  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I'm planning on installing Xforce Varex Smart Mufflers on my 5.0

Got it done, and I'm extremely happy with the way it came out.

My hope was for this to unleash the V8 sound without it being obnoxiously loud, and I can say for certain this product/install nailed it. People don't turn their heads unless I go out of my way to dump it, and even then it's not Harley Davidson levels of sound where people hate you. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get bothered by cops with this.

Beginning is fully closed, second half is fully open.

I'll likely end up doing a longer video with cabin runs, a look underneath to show how the shop did the welding, where we ran the wiring, etc. They were able to basically recreate the stock geometry of the piping but with 2.5"

Mind you, This is with everything else still in place. Resonator, cats... all we did was change the stock mufflers. They also made it so these can easily be taken off for maintenance the same way the stock ones were, meaning the stock mufflers could be put back on with no issue.

Is there any drone?
Fully closed, none. Fully open, yes, but definitely not like what I've heard in all other videos of the muffler deletes or full exhaust systems. Some may even consider it so mild that it's not really drone, and it's so modest that I run it fully open 99% of the time. If you've driven the 2019 Ford Mustang GT, it's not as loud in the cabin as that car's drone to give you an idea. The other 1% of the time I keep it in matrix mode, where it completely eliminates drone and will fully open based on throttle/RPM settings I set it to. I find that fully open at over 25% throttle or over 2k RPMs is perfect for me. At highway speeds it means the car sounds completely stock until I get on it a little. If I leave it fully open all the time, it has just the right presence to where the people around you know there's something powerful under your hood.

To me, this is exactly how the car should sound stock. With matrix mode, you completely retain the ability to keep that luxury quietness to it while allowing it to roar when you want it to. Still, I find I prefer running it fully open most of the time because it just sounds awesome.

Any cons?
Besides the cost of the install (varies from shop to shop), Xforce as a company is pretty bad at customer support. I had to redo the wiring on their dual wiring harness because after 3 sets, we determined they were wiring it incorrectly from the factory (the function of the valves were flipped, so they would open when they should close). I had to spell it out to them in a number of emails before they seemed to acknowledge it was a big problem that would affect their other customers. Also, their instructions look like they were put together by a kindergartner. The photos look terrible and they just have no sense of pride in their work there. They should work on those two things and then I'd feel stronger about recommending them, so if you can find another company with a product with the same capabilities as theirs, I'd say it's worth a shot going with them and not Xforce.

Beyond that, there may come a time where I want it to have the capability to be louder fully open and will have the shop forge some straight pipes I can replace the stock resonator with to see how it comes out, but we'll see.

If anyone has any questions I'm more than happy to answer them!
