  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Guess for 2022 it can still be had in the G90. But come 2023, it's gone. Shame, it's a great engine. Very glad it's what we wound up with. Kinda by default, rather than planning. The car was supposed to be for the wife. For "safety" reasons, I wanted an AWD, which was only available with the 3.8 V6. Found one, but couldn't come to terms with the dealership. Wife was getting impatient with how long the search was taking, and started pushing to JUST BUY A CAR. Up Dallas way, there were 6 or 8 with V8s. So up we went and bought one. I love this car. So happy circumstance put us in a 5.0

Yeah... Get the 5.0 before they're gone. Did about a 1300 mi round trip in mine earlier this week - 70 to 100mph passing with it on the Interstate to pick off slower traffic never got old! Nice shove in the back with a great soundtrack.

Yeah this was known back in 2018. Makes things easier for Hyundai as they don't need a separate assembly line just for the V8. And, don't hold your breath for the V6 twin turbo beyond 2030. The last of the internal combustion engines will be 4 cylinder paired with a hybrid powertrain.

Yeah, I traded in my 2015 V8 AWD for a 2020 G90 a few months ago for that one last V8. I don't think I'm going to trade this car for an electric until they can fully drive themselves. I've driven a few Model S cars... yes, it's quick but the experience was numb... I got no joy out of it... I can be forced to buy one but I don't have to drive it... lol

Driving is about more than getting from point A to B. Most of the electrics I've seen have taken that excitement out of driving.

Its an evolution. First was automatic transmissions, then power steering, electric windshield wipers that don't stop when you go up a hill.

Dam I had to drive 5hrs for mine and that was the closest one! I cant believe they're just hoarding them. I came across a lot of people that want to buy them but cant find any

Exactly, the cars that are fun to drive are supposed to be constantly trying to kill you. It taps into the primitive part of the brain's need to tame the beast. Even just getting out of a Shelby Cobra can hurt you just by getting out of the car. If you're not careful, you can leave a patch of skin on the side pipe exhaust.

It's no fun if you're trying to take a car to its limits and it reels you back in.... Yes, I know the G90 is full of these systems but it's no sports car, the engine noise gives me just enough to keep me interested in driving it. Anything less and I'd rather be a passenger.

End of an era, that is one sweet v8, RIP.
Coincidentally after 7 years, I am moving on from my v8 Genny next week. Going to miss it but its time to move on and I do not have room for an extra vehicle. (Historic used car prices also eases the pain some.)

I live in Dallas and had mine shipped from Atlanta! (Korea to Long Beach Port to Hyundai HQ as the President's Car to Hyundai Auction to Atlanta and then to me in Dallas!)

All of those enhanncements helped improve an automobile. Electric is an evolutionary change. And call me old fashioned, but I've not seen electric anything that has inspired me.

I think that is the whole point of electrics. To take the human component out of driving. I understand this evolution is meant to increase our safety, but the enjoyment of driving is going out the window.

I have limited experience driving one but from the little I did, no negatives. It was 90+ degrees and the AC worked well, acceleration was great. I don't know about heat on a very cold day though.
IMO, the Tesla Model 3 is ugly, the Leaf not much better. Put the E drivetrain under a G80 and I think I'd be happy with it. Still needs tweaks for long distance though.

I went in a totally different direction and picked up a Rav4 Prime. Originally had planned to pick up either an E400/450 wagon , All road, or V90- used (also consider Q7 and Touereg), but then the used car market skyrocketed and I am not willing to pony up for them at current prices. Looked at GV80 and GV70 online but not too seriously, in fact was not really looking when this deal popped up as a result of an earlier inquiry for my wife.

The torque and acceleration is outstanding and it's a smooth and very quiet cruiser on the highway, so at least I did not have to give those up compared to the Genny. It really is an impressive powertrain, totally seamless and instantaneous coordination between gas/electric motors.

Interior appointments, options, and handling does not compare at all though, its more rugged and pretty spartan. I can live with that trade off if the vaunted reliability holds up.

Did not intend to mislead. This was early 2016. Had the car for over 5 years. Still love it.
