  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, what should I pay?

I am intrigued by the possibilities of the Genesis. However, I am having the same problems most everyone else seems to be having. Do I really want to drive a Hyundai?
Actually it would be my wife's. I drive a Corvette and she is leaning towards a CLK Cabriolet, an Audi A5 or a "07 LS 460.

She isn't really comfortable with the thought of being "stuck" with a Hyundai long term and the Hyundai badging would have to go.

Leasing might make sense and I know there is a 27 month lease available. Credit is no problem. What should I pay for a 3.8 with the Technology package and the premium package plus?

My lease is up Feb. 13, so I have some time. Any thoughts on upcoming incentives?

Thank in advance for all of the help.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Here's what it was supposed to be in July but I could not find a dealer that would do it:
V6 with tech package
-- $499 per month
-- $1680 down
-- +Tax and Registration (some dealers may add a title/doc fee)
-- $595 disposition fee at end of lease if you turn it in
-- $26,400 to buy it at end of lease

She isn't really comfortable with the thought of being "stuck" with a Hyundai long term...

Care to elaborate on this point? I'm now in my 2nd Hyundai, and have enjoyed the ride, and the compliments from others on both cars. I've driven a variety of cars, and in all respects they have outperformed others. Considering purchase price for value received--it's a HUGE win.

Hawaiimark -

Like you, the very idea of owning a Hyundai was a leap. But I was intrigued by the write-ups and went to see and drive one, loved everything about it and leased one. I couldn't be happier with the Genesis and have driven "luxury" cars for the past twenty years. I don't believe there is any argument about its quality, fit and finish, performance, features, etc. But, it is a Hyundai. Brands mean a lot to people and are a very important part of the overall ownership experience. If your wife will feel "stuck", my guess is she will never be happy with it. If money is not a problem, why not just buy her what she wants?

For what it's worth...

I had a 2002 XG350L, which gave outstanding service for 90,000 miles over 7 years. It was the only car (so far) that I've owned that had no rattles, groadns, squeeks, or thumps after 30,000 miles. Well, acutally, over the 90,000 miles! Beat the heck out of Ford, Chrysler, and GM in every area. Hyundai? Bet on it.

Hi Dan,

I'm afraid that I was a little unclear in my "stuck" remark...

My (wife's) concern is that she will have buyer's remorse after getting the Genesis. She is right as she should be excited to drive whatever she gets every day. As wonderful as the car may be, it still is a Hyundai and as it was also said on this forum, some people are brand concious and brand means a lot to them regardless of cost and quality.

I am pushing the Genesis but I may loose the battle. She may opt for the Audi A5 or a 2 year old LS 460 (newer body style).

Personally, I would rather not refloat the economy all by myself so the Genesis would be fine with me. Also I don't want to get the Genesis and have her drive my Corvette every day because she is unhappy driving the Hyundai.

Thanks for the responses and Happy New Year to all.

Get her to clarify what her 'buyer's remorse' actually is, and maybe you'll have a chance!

Thanks for your reply!

My daily driver is a 2008 Corvette. I have already put over 22,000 miles on it. I really enjoy driving it. My wife's car is a 2009 Genesis, 3.8, loaded including the tech package. The car's performance and handling is amazing. I think I enjoy driving it almost as much as I enjoy driving my Corvette. I too am brand conscious but I am value conscious too. As a previous Hyundai owner I had no problems or any second thoughts about buying a Genesis. It attracts lots of attention and will last foreve. What else could I want?

The Genesis gets a lot of stares and compliments.. I think your wife will get used to that really quick. :) But that's just me...
