If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Soft closing door is an option offered in other markets. Can this be retrofited? I found a place that sells 4 OEM soft closing latches for each corner and wondering...

I would love to know who sells these, as this is a huge missing feature for me. I should be able to find out If they're capable of being retrofitted. I've got a custom shop right down the street from me which my local Hyundai dealer subcontracts work out to.

I could give you link but the site/shop is all in korean in korea and since I've not dealt with them, I could not give you any input. Dealing with a place out of country is always riskier than ones in your country.

It's 2015 and you own a Korean car. Welcome to the global economy. Post the link already. Then our well-tooled forum mates can take a look. Someone might actually try it. If you don't post the link, they won't.

Hint: they also offer the feature in Australia, so you might be able to find an Auzzienglish-speaking source there too, mate!

We are all interested!!!!! On the site and the retrofit!!!

+1. I love soft closing doors. It's just as cool as logo puddle lights.

We are stil eating for that korean site how sell the soft closer mechanism???

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I can't tell if the site takes PayPal or not; don't see a PayPal branding badge. I prefer paying for things with PP online. Even if I trust a site's business, I may not trust their security.

Step by step guide. It looks like a pain in the ass. I'd rather manually re-close my doors for life. He found no room to mount the motor so he cut squares out of the metal to make room. Somehow he was able to get everything closed up again. Also in the last pic you can see the mounting holes for the latch aren't the same. He made a new one halfway on top of the existing one

Agreed. I don't get the need for power door closers on a sedan. How hard is it to manually, fully shut the door? You still have to almost fully close to engage the soft close anyhow. I don't find I need to slam my doors to close and they are not at all loud - it's a satisfying, solid thud.

To me, soft close doors are just one more "cool" thing to break that doesn't really add much, if any, meaningful benefit - we've been through a few bad power door motors/mechanisms/sensors on minivans we've owned and they are quite expensive fixes!

That link shows NON genesis retrofitting genesis's ghost door latch, hence that guy having to do custom jobs. I assume genesis would not have to do the kind of things the had to do (cutting out metal). For $300, if it is near plug in and play (minus perhaps running power line), I think it may be a cool retrofit option. I wouldn't do it cause mine is lease and have a feeling that a lot of options available in other markets will come standard or option in coming years very soon.

I agree!!! When I got my Genesis I will do that retrofit because in 2016 or 2017 they will includ and that will piss me off !!!

Somebody will make this as his new project !! A retrofit and improvement for their cars !! Please I got curiosity???

Sorry to Necro, but I really struggled to find an answer to this and wanted to share the efforts of my research.

It does appear that the soft close function can be retrofitted by replacing a few parts. However part of the problem in locating the correct assembly is that in Korea, instead of calling it Soft Closing they call it Ghost Closing.

I managed to find a seller on Ebay named automotiveapple who sells a 24 piece kit so that this function can be retrofitted onto an American car. I'm not sure how long this listing will be up as there's only a few for sale at the moment, but this is the one I bought

The seller was also kind enough to provide me with instructions, which I will also share

Yes the pictures are the newer Genesis G80, but the principle remains the same
