  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know that there has been some previous discussions here about the T63 update. I had this done on 1/19 and now have serious radio, nav, phone problems. I had no problems whatsoever in the past! Last Tuesday night I dropped my Genny off at the Dealer's and now they tell me it might be over 2 weeks!!!! Can you imagine!? They say that they have to change the radio and they need a radio to be manufactured?!? Yes, they gave me a loaner, a Genny, without the tech package though. Has anyone had any similar problems? I am calling The Genesis Team at Hyundai when I get home today.
2 weeks, or they crazy or what!?!?!?!

That two week delay to get the parts is rather surprising. When the head unit in my Gen had to be replaced back in October, it took less than a week from dealer diagnosis to install of new part from HMA. Supply could have changed greatly since then, but that still seems rather long...

I would consider a dealer change. They obviously don't know what they are doing. It is highly unlikely that your radio failed simultaneouly with the software update. What is entirely more probable is, despite the warnings, the dealer somehow interrupted the update process. Maybe it was their first, who knows. Interrupted software updates are bad ju ju! All the systems you mentioned are software controlled in one way, or another.

I do not know for sure, but there should be a way to "restore original factory settings." This is not like the option in the NAVI to restore factory settings. This would be akin to reloading the operating system in the PC world. Not fun, in that you lose all your settings, but not hard to do either. If that could be accomplished, they [or someone else] could then re-apply the T-63 update and you should be good to go.

If I read the posts on here correctly on radio/nav issues, they seem to mostly happen right out of the box. [bad on delivery or shortly thereafter] and were remedied by replacing the head unit. In your case, if they screwed up the operating software during the update, replacing any hardware parts will yield the same result, they won't work right.

You may want to check out the Hyundai Service website to see if the discuss anything about system reloads. http://www.hmaservice.com There is a lot of stuff out there. Do a master search and enter "software". You will quickly see there are many diagnostic codes for software errors. Your dealer should check for those first.

Thanks for your suggestions. Seems the dealer may be trying to hide something. They claim they did the T63 which failed so Hyundai sent them another set of updated discs, which went through, but did not change the problem the first try caused. I wonder if the dealer just does not know what they are doing! I asked them how many T63 updates they did, to which they claim about 15-20.(said they even did in some news cars on the lot!)
They claim that they are between a rock and a hard place, but I think that they have put me there!!! I will check out the website, thanks, and call Hyundai direct today. Do you all know that there is a special Hyundai Genesis team? I spoke with them over the question of a 3 month or 1 year subscription to Xm. They were most helpful then. Hopefully they will be just as good.

Another RED flag. The T-63 update is for early production cars. New cars come updated from the factory. The TSB specifies VIN number parameters for the updates. Check out the TSB here, and you'll know more than your dealer.

I have never belong to a forum so I may be very stupid in what I am doing but hopefully not.
I talked with a representative from Harmin International (Lexicon) in regards to the GPS unit on the Hyundai to find out how the owners could keep up with the most current software for the map. He stated that the GPS unit is OEM and also intergrated within the system (like motherboard) so there is no specific model number and type for the GPS. The best way to find out if a map update has been distributed is to check here and call some 5-star Hyundai dealerships and ask them what the current version is to make sure your dealership is capable of keeping updated itself. I'm sorry but some dealerships do not have personnel that understand this stuff. He also stated that most places on the POI listing have to pay to keep themselves updated, so you could like I did come across a Hyundai dealership that moved from the location on your map several years ago and did not choose to pay to update their info.
Okay here is my first question: My map version is 02.03.03 2008/04/26/08 does anyone know if that is the most current.

It is NOT.

The latest levels are:

Head Unit..........................S/W Level 16.170
Universal Tuner Amplifier......S/W Level 6.8b
Hard Disc Drive Map Data.....S/W Level 3.0.01

Read the TSB in Post #5 to understand how this works.

How do new versions get loaded - by DVD or some other method?

They come to the dealer on CDs.

Interesting - I took delivery on the car this past Saturday and the dealer told me I have the latest revs. However, I just checked and I'm at 02.02.03...looks like I'm going back for the update. I performed the factory reset while in the radio menus...could that have also reset the Nav back to factory settings as well?

There is a separate setting in the NAVI menus to reset it to factory settings, but this has nothing to do with software versions. The reset would be akin to re-booting your PC at home.

If you just got your car, more importantly if the dealer just received the car, it should be up to date. The T63 campaign is for cars manufacturered prior to October 1st.

Print out the TSB [in post #5] before you go to the dealer so you will know about as much as they do.

Well I just took delievery last week but it has rev 02.03.03, so I guess I should have them do the update. That tells me the car was probably sitting on the lot for awhile:(

That revision number is for the map data, which hasn't been updated since the car was first released.

The 3.00.01 version number, even though the description in the TSB talks about map data, isn't actually map data, it's the Hard Disk Drive software version (as you can see in the screenshots included in the TSB documentation).

Unfortunately both the Genesis interface and the Genesis documentation is filled with erroneous statements like that. My theory is that it's bad translation from Korean.

If you look at your software upgrade window, you'll see that the HDD version will be 3.00.01.

Yes, that is the most current. Even though the T63 update refers to one of the things updated as "map data" I'm pretty certain that it's not actually map data but a bad translation. If you look at your software update screen you'll see an entry for the actual map data (called "Navi database" and shows 02.03.03 as a version) but 3.00.01 for HDD version (which is also in the description of the same field in the TSB).

OK thanks BaywayRic appreciate the answer.
I called the Haman International Rep to expel the differences and confusion with the pictures in the Technical Bulletin (TB) for the Service Campaign T63. The first page of the TB reads:

Head Unit (HU) S/W Level 16.170
Universal Tuner Amplifier (UTA) S/W Level 6.8b
Hard Disc Drive Map Data (HDD) S/W Level 3.0.01

The picture on page 5, paragraph 7 shows you what the info is before the upgrade, and the picture on page 8 shows you what the info would look like after the upgrade. The only info I have via my GPS commands is to see Navi Information and that reads the same as the picture 02.03.03 2008/04/26/08 which I believe if the picture was bigger in the TB it would complete with 6/08 after the 04/2 that you see. So bottom line is that 02.03.03 2008/04/26/08 is the most up-to-date map according to Harman International (Harman Infotainment). ;)

Hopefully this helps I know of no way on my system to see the rest of that info in the picture, please let me know if someone knows where that other info in the picture can be viewed.

Someone asked me for the Hyundai Genesis Team phone number. Here it is:
18006335151 - then you need to go thru the recordings, and eventually you will get a person who then can put you in touch with someone from the Genesis Team.

I just got a Genesis and so far I love it. I have owned Mercedes andl Lexus LS in the past and that is what I measure against.

I have questions about the Navigation system. The map data that I see is obviously quite old and have read this thread mentioning software and map data level. How do you display the software and map versions?

I just bought my Genesis 4.6 last Thursday and so far I think that it is great. I was following the subject of software updates and can'f find anywhere in the documentation how to obtain the version of the software and maps. How do I display that?

It's in the NAV settings menu if memeory serves. Poke around a bit and you'll find it.
