sony ericsson phone locks in privacy mode

I'm having this problem with my phone and my 2011 Genesis. When a call is connected (incoming or outgoing) the system locks in privacy mode and I cannot talk on the audio system. It will not come out of privacy mode, either with the controller or with the steering wheel button. Now the hard part - it doesn't happen all the time, only occasionally. Disconnecting and reconnecting the phone cures it temporarily. Am I alone with this? BTW, so far Hyundai doesn't have an answer.

Check your phone settings very closely. My wife had a Blackberry Bold that was doing strange things on bluetooth and it was the phone. In fact she went through having three blackberries until one worked correctly.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have done that, as has the dealer. My wife has the same model phone and we get the same results with that one. Really frustrating. BTW, this phone works fine with 3 other bluetooth devices I have used it with.

Thanks for that link. Unfortunately the chart is at least 2 years old and my specific phone is not listed. A couple of older sister phones are listed as compatible, though.

I have precisely the same issue with my HTC Droid Incredible, and have brought it up a time or two on this forum. In my opinion it's inexcusable to be using the height of technology in both a mobile phone and an automobile, each employing what is by design supposed to be a standard communication interface (Bluetooth), and have this sort of inconsistency. It's almost enough disincentive to avoid using Bluetooth for calling in my car at all -- Almost, but not quite. Instead, what happens is I try the Bluetooth connection for outgoing calls every time (via voice command) and then hold my breath when waiting to find out if I can actually hear phone ringing through my speakers or instead have to pick my phone up and hold it to my ear *AGAIN*. I figure my success rate is around maybe 60%, but in reality I probably remember the failures more than the successes.

That other link is kind of like the Bluetooth system. The page opens OK, but the lookup system doesn't work. I finally got it to show me the data base it is using and it's the same two year old one we were talking about previously.

Hyundai needs to update their site regarding cell phones, etc. It looks like someone at Hyundai has dropped the ball on this update.
