  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday I put a deposit on an incoming GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige Black/Beige. I've been car shopping for about a year and a half, and have considered many different vehicles: Hyundai Santa Fe, Lexus, BMW X3, Mazda, Volvo XC60. I almost got a Volvo XC60 Recharge, but the problems I saw on the owners forum really scared me. I always kept coming back to what I really wanted, the GV70. But, of course they have been hard to come by. I guess that is changing a bit. The anticipated arrival is June 22. I'm quite excited.

It comes with factory roof rail cross bars, which I have no use for, so I hope to sell those. It's a $450 option.

Now a question I have: I'm sure I'll have plenty of dealer add-ons pushed on me; Rust proofing, paint protection, extended warranty (I don't even know what they do these days). My gut feeling is to decline them all, but I would appreciate opinions.
PS I started this message a while ago, and it disappeared, so it if's duplicated to some degree, that's why.
Thanks

Might wanna post this in the GV70 forum

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Can the mods so something to avoid GV70 owners posting here? No offense, but those vehicles have NOTHING in common with the G70, except that both have 4 tires and a steering wheel. Ha ha. Maybe put 'G70 (NOT GV70) forum' .;)

You are somewhat right of course. However, the GV is built on the same platform as the G.

You left out wheel protection. Yes, decline them all. If they do offer something that wounds good, offer 35% for it.

Bought a car last week and dealer already had $1900 of add-ons. One was window tinting I did want so I offered $100 for the extras. They took it.

It's a modified platform, but nothing else is the same, including BOTH power-trains. And you don't have problems with the platform itself; it's everything else attached to it;). You'd be hard-pressed to find anything in common on a G70 and GV70, other than the underlying similar platform.

Ordered a G70 2 weeks ago, if it ever gets to the dealer before winter ( lol ) I am planning to use 225 50 17 steel wheels and winter tires, any one using them ?? Any particular issues ?? They are exactly the same height as the 225 45 18 O.E.M.

If your G70 has non-Brembo single-piston brakes, the 17's should fit okay. Just before I did the Brembo conversion on our Stinger, I trial-fitted the 17" donut spare from my old '09 Genesis Sedan and it fitted both front and rear no problem. Obviously, this is assuming the steelies you plan to use have the correct hub center bore and proper offset.

You'd have to run the 50 series tires 2-3 psi lower than the OEM spec for the 45 series.
