If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Need new tires for my 2009 Genesis sedan and I live in the South so do not want snow tires. When it does snow here I drive my truck instead. What is the best set of tires?
Thanks.

I am researching tires for mine too. So far there're three that I think give give good ride/quiet and handle well. Continental Contact DWS, Bridgestone Serinity, Michelin MXV4. Check tirerack.com There are also several threads on tires in this forum. I have had two sets of the V rated Bridgestone Serinity on an Acura (got about 50,000 miles on each set)and looks like that will be what I will get for my Genesis 4.6; great tire for the rain.

Really like my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

Been running on Continental ExtremeContact DW tires for almost 4k miles now and like 'em a lot. They're evidently similar to the also-great DWS model, which has gained much acclaim in the last year, minus the snow rating, which makes 'em perfect for us southern folk. These tires stick to wet pavement like crazy and offer a surprisingly pleasant ride on all surfaces. Give 'em a look see.

Conti DW is a good tire but no mileage warranty. The DWS, Bridgestone and Michelin have mileage warranties. I remember when I had a 1993 Madza 929(fantastic car and great looking) I purchased michelin tires that had an unlimited mileage warranty. I only bought the tires once in 1993 after OE tires wore out. During the 7 years after my purchase of the unlimited mileage Michelins the tire dealer hated to see me come in due to the paperwork involed to give me another free set of tires. I think I got three free sets before selling the car with over 200,000 mile on it.

True enough. However, how important is said warranty? The only difference between the DW and DWS (to compare the same brand directly) is the added 6 year/50k prorated tread warranty between 2/32" worn and 2/32" remaining for the latter. The DW tires are Max Performance Summer, which lends to very spirited driving, hence no warranty. However, if you drive moderately conservatively on the DW rubbers, you'll surely get 30k-50k out of 'em anyway, which means very little money is saved (if any). On the other hand, if you're looking to do some spirited driving and aren't worried about the threat of snow, the DW model is the preferred choice due to the superior handling, too.

What it boils down to is this: increased performance normally comes at a price. Since these tires are selling for almost identical prices off the shelf, you've gotta ask yourself whether or not the potential higher cost due to possible shorter lifespan outweighs the "alleged" difference in performance for you. There's no right answer for everybody, that's for sure!

Have any of you found the Conti or Michelin's to reduce some of the bouncing found with the Dunlops and provide a smoother and quieter ride?

My observations, compared to the OEM Dunlops:

Honestly, the DW's only provide a slight (approaching negligible) decrease in bounciness, but a noticeable reduction in ride noise (except on certain - usually horizontally-biased - surfaces that don't play nice with the tread's deep-groove design [see here]).

The DW's wet traction is far superior; that, coupled with the improved cornering and dry traction, boosts the car's "poise" and "assertiveness" in all above-freezing conditions. This is totally subjective and probably bogus, but the positive traits of these tires seem to make me forget about the inconsistent and "uneven" misgivings of the suspension more often than not. If I consciously think about every bounce, especially on known problem surfaces, it's still quite noticeable. (Then again, I didn't consider the suspension to be all that annoying in the first place. It's occasionally noticeable, but not a big deal. Maybe it's just the placebo effect.) Proper balancing/alignment and inflation are as likely to provide noticeable improvement to the ride as switching to these tires, I'd imagine.

Was at Dealer yesterday for routine maintenance and I took a good look at the Equus.....comes with Continental rubber...I guess the deal with Dunflop ended!

I bought a set of Michelin MXV4 about 5,000 miles ago. VERY quiet ride, all you hear is the wind noise. They are light years better than those horrible Dunlops.

Thanks to all for the help! I ordered Continentals through the dealership today. So much ice here yesterday so no traveling for me.
Had to tell this nice person that my favorite car of all time was my Mazda 929 also I bought brand new in 1993!!! This Genesis ranks right up there with it since I have owned Range Rovers since 1998 and decided to go back to a car. Wanted a BMW 750 series but too overpriced for me, my car nut brother suggested I look into this car which I had never heard of and I was sold! Do wish they had done like toyota ( spun off lexus brand) and made this a separate entity, service dept. still not up to what I was used to in past but it is fun to have so many people ask how I like my Bently since I rebadged my car!!!!
Thanks again to all, I had looked for tire recommendations before I asked for help on this site but they all came up with snow tires!!!

I just put a set of Conti DWS tires on my wifes BMW. What a difference. I went up 1 aspect ratio to get some sidewall compliance but the same section width. The sport package comes with staggered runflats and rode like the wheels were made of concrete. It has truly transformed the car. It is much quieter and smoother than before. I got them through the Tread Depot as they were the only ones that had the size in stock. Tire Rack had them on indefinite back order. I will absolutely put these on the Genesis when the time for new tires comes. The Conti DWS is the top rated High performance all season tire according to Tire Racks survey. They were pretty good in the recent snow we had as well. My total cost mounted and balanced was $775.00 for 225/45x18 front and 255/40x18 rears.
