  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spark Plugs changed 4.6L

I just checked the Advance Auto site and these appeal the most to me. Any thoughts on these for my 4.6, which now has 115k miles?

NGK laser iridium is what I used in the 4.6 and I also use them in my E63 AMG.

Thanks. Do you have a link for those? Advance Auto doesn't show them as an option for the 4.6.

Actually, Advance does have them, but says "may not fit" the 4.6.

You can't go wrong with using OEM, which are NGK. I happen to have a set 8. If you want 'em, send me a message.

I bought a set of these, now trying to install. I started on the drivers side, got the first three from the front installed, but having a heck of a time with the 4th. Trying to get to the small bracket at the back that holds the harness. No way to remove that plug without getting that bracket out of the way.

I don't recall having to remove any brackets when I changed plugs on my 4.6. However, I have several special attachments for my ratchet wrench and a battery powered ratchet so maybe that is why I did not remove a bracket. Or maybe the 2012 has a bracket on the engine that my 2011 did not have.

Well, I've messed up pretty badly. While trying to remove the 3rd plug on the passenger side, the socket extension made contact with the one of the electrical cables that comes from a box on that side. (I took the cover off of that box because I was having trouble getting the socket and extension down into the plug port.)

Anyway, there was a big spark and crackly sound. I was about finished changing the plugs, so I went ahead and finished with that. But the car is completely dead--no interior lights, nothing. I checked the two fuses that are located near the positive battery terminal, but they do not appear to be blown. Does anyone know if there is another fuse somewhere that is supposed to blow if something like this happens? I'm also going to create a separate thread on this.

So, these are installed now. They don't have the little raised portion opposite the electrode like the OE plugs, but hopefully will perform as well. The car does seem to wind out and pull harder than with the old plugs!
