  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Speaker cover in the trunk

I bought my 3.8 in July, manufactured date was Oct 2008. I do not have the speaker cover in the trunk.
After reading the threads called the Genesis number and spoke with a nice enough young lady. Short, she didn't know about the trunk luggage partition and no one within asking distance didn't either. She's promising to "research" this and call me back. Will let you know how this comes out. I have no problem ordering from the dealer if Hyundai will reimburse cost. Maybe I will come out like some of you and the dealer will just throw it in as cust satisf....

Returned from dealer yesterday (8-17), they installed the speaker cover "no-charge" expensive piece though $143.23. Faxed Hyundai the paper work this morning and will await their response. Will update you guys on my outcome.

Here in Vancouver I had the dealer order the missing cover and it was covered under warranty.

It was installed on Friday and took about 20 minutes in total. No charge whatsoever. And the trunk looks way better!

I went to my closest dealer today... I bought my used Genesis last Friday. One of the cargo net studs mounted to the frame was missing, and striped out. I called the purchasing dealer (a state away from me), and they said it would be taken care of under warranty. I got to the dealer, and they informed me that this is covered under a 1 year warranty. (The cars build date was September - so I only have a few days to get it fixed.) It took them 45 minutes to decide to schedule the fix. I am starting to think I should have just fixed it myself.

I asked about the trunk partition...and the only response I could get out of the guy is, I don't know anything about it. So I am not sure what my next step is to see if I can get one installed under the warranty.

The service department guy just seemed lazy. Hyundai better step up the dealer service experience if they expect the Equus to survive. If I bought a 50-60K car, I'd expect a higher level of service for sure.

Either I need to ask someone else there next time, or maybe call Hyundai and ask?

You can either call Hyundai and get a case number and apply for reimbursement or you can ask your service manager to call their Hyundai rep and get them to authorize the warranty repair. Both approaches have worked for people here.

Hyundai dealer experiences vary here. I've not had much luck - others have. It's like anything else, I suppose.

Hyundai has a dedicated Genesis "team" on their customer service number. I've found them to be very polite and responsive for normal things. Give them a call. :)
