  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I use a Valentine One also, believe they are the best .Still have my old Passport/ Escort that I bought in the 80'S--- and it works fine. Not to bore anyone, but Mr Valentine previously owned the company that makes the Escort, he sold out , signed a wavier not to build radar detectors for a few years, when that ended he started making the Valentine one. On the latest tests that I have found , in one of the respected Magazines, the Escort won out over the Valentine One . False alert was the problem with the Valentine. Escort won out because , using a GPS it can know where areas of false signals exist, and can eliminate them. But by doing this , if there is a real threat , in that area, you also dont hear it. One of the major false alarm threats is the auto door openers that some stores have. Im sure you will see Mr. Valentine, in the future , come out with new software that solves the problem. The Valentine is a quality product that we see rarely these days --not cheap, but excellent.

I love my Beltronics Pro500 which has saved my a$$ more than a few hundred tickets easily but comes one day I failed my Pro500, I put it on mute and my Lexicon was happily blasting music away.
There are numerous other times it has helped alerting me speed and redlight camera through out streets of America.
As for the Valentine I don't doubt its capability at all but its look would ruin my car interior completely.

I will post more pics on exactly how I have my V1 hardwired but it was easy (with the right tools), 20 min install did it myself into the fuse box on the driver side of the console.. it could easily be done to the passenger side box the same way as long as you pick a fuse that goes on/off with the ignition to wire it to

+1 on the V1. I had one for about 12 years (firmware updated twice). Hardwired in two cars (Passat into the fuse box, TL into the powered mirror). Finally retired it about 6 months ago (front sensor failure). I'm now driving blind.

V1 bought new in 1999 for $400. still works amazing, still on original firmware. cost new is still (a reasonable) $400. trade in cost to get a new V1 is $260ish. think it is time for the new updated slimmer model.

I bought mine in 2001 and it still works like a champ!

Do they have "trade-in" option now? I haven't been to their website for ages :D
