Sprint Booster feedback

After long consideration, I finally installed the Sprint Booster on my 2011 4.6 Genesis (tech package). This product lives up to its advertising. It was simple to install and has improved the driving experience. I find that downshifting is significantly more responsive as is acceleration from a full stop. While it does not add horsepower, it certainly does feel like it unleashes the horses that ARE there. It is indeed more fun to drive. While it seems to be expensive based on the materials involved, I would judge it to be a good value for the money - if nothing else just in the perceived reduction of downshift delay.

does it seem to reduce the lag from throttle dump to power delivery? That is one of the most frustrating aspects of this car - push and wait.

Did you purchase auto or manual component? Could be a warranty issue down the road.

With regards to the lag, from their product page, here's what they have to say:

Sprint Booster not only corrects this problem, it actually improves your throttle response. It unlocks your Genesis's potential, creating a smoother, more powerful ride.

What happens in your Genesis when you hit the gas?

Usually, you get a full second of delay before you start moving. Sprint Booster eliminates this... you get a quicker acceleration from a stop.

After you install Sprint Booster, you feel a huge difference the first time you hit the gas.

This sounds like it would address the lag issue.

In reference to my original post and the question about lag time, yes it does address this delay issue. It is very obvious for example when you pass someone. The downshift is quite a bit faster - more immediate in response to the pedal depression. I understand that you can probably accomplish the same thing by simply pressing the pedal down further (if one does not have the sprint booster) but with the SB installed, the pedal depth feels more calibrated with the output of the engine and transmission.

Reason I inquired about which particular SB your installed is because in a previous thread, some said that the manual component was preferable to auto. I assume you purchased the auto?

Sorry about the omission. I purchased the automatic SB. I also read where the manual works better but I have no complaints on the automatic version.

Thanks. I like the concept but again concerned if I every had a tranny problem and even if unit was removed, would it leave any "fingerprints" that would allow denial of warranty coverage. Seems this concern exists with those who have defeated the ESC system.

I wonder how much the person would charge to install as it seems quite easy but i rather not mess with it.

I'm your guy. I'll install yours for free. All you need to pay for is my RT airfare to, and one night's stay in Daytona Beach! Hell, i'll even detail the car while I'm there (w/w/v).

Too bad Weapon-R doesn't make one for the Genny... 150$.. it does the same thing by increasing the signal to the DBW system, making it seem like you're pressing the pedal down further than what you are. No increase in hp or tq.

The SB has been debated endlessly over on Mercedes forums with discussions and technical break downs and/or what it is doing and how the components really are nothing special. Numerous group buys from the past can be found and you can see what the price can be brokered down to (6speed.net had one awhile back that got the price down a considerable amount).

They are simple PnP installs. If you have ever hard wired a Valentine 1 or radar detector...or familiar with how to use a fuse tap to switchable power...you can install/uninstall one of these. I highly doubt the ECU/logging could tell anything different as it is simply increasing (or decreasing w/ ECO mode) the same signal sent when normally operating the auto...unless it specifically is logging how far the pedal is pressed in, as well as the signal sent to accelerate. (Perhaps they do after that whole Prius fiasco that they came out saying it was driver error after all).
