  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone tried this? My car could really use something like this if it works as it says. For $289 I'd like to know that is does before I spend the money.

I saw it on a show on the Velocity Channel, they put it on a Camaro and it really helped it off the line. With the throttle by wire there is such a lag between hitting the throttle and the car moving, I've almost been creamed a couple of times hitting the gas, thinking the car would immediately go and it hesitates.

The Sprint Booster "works" as advertised. Throttle response is greatly enhanced; and it is no longer necessary to fully floor the throttle to kick down a gear. With the Sprint Booster you can kick down with partial throttle. I had Sprint Boosters on my 2009 and 2011 4.6s, which are both six speeds. To my knowledge Sprint Booster is not "approved by Sprint Booster" for the 2012-13 eight speed.

It's working on my 2013 rspec 5.0 no problem

Well I Emailed Sprint Booster and below is their reply. So I am wondering how it is working on your 2013.

"Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, due to a design change in Hyundai's throttle design, the Sprint Booster will not function on Hyundai models newer than 2011. At this time there is no ETA on newer models."

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hmm I don't recall any changes to the TB design. I believe it's always been drive by wire.

Time for a review. You seem to be very honest about the mods you're done.

Worth the money?

Nah. but I'm too lazy to remove it :)

Its an illusion, throttle seems more responsive, its just amplifying the pedal imput. Has three settings. Can't use it on the hardest setting in the rain as the tires break loose. I keep it in the middle. Not sure if its something I keep or ditch.

I'm fairly certain same fellow told me on the phone that it has a money back guarantee so I was free to try it and return if not happy. It does work. Its in my car now.

I'm all for having better throttle response, but, don't know if I want to spend $300 w/out an increase in performance........ but, to get rid of that damn lag, I just might.

That lag is truly annoying and I echo the sentiments of jstkrsn of almost getting creamed. Happened to me more times than I can count so for 300 bucks it might just be worth it for safety's sake.

Rey,

Since you have some experience with this device, was there any difference in your gas mileage using it?

Thank you I was just going to ask about the gas mileage if and how it was affected.

The Sprint Booster has no effect on horsepower or torque. They remain unchanged. Throttle is more sensitive, but cruise control settings remain smooth and no detectible change.
The comparatively dull OEM throttle response helps those drivers who cannot/will not drive with smooth throttle transitions. Their small movements are dampened by the OEM throttle to the point of no change. While, I do not think Sprint Booster's throttle response is over sensitive, that is just my opinion. I try to drive smoothly. Smoothness is a major concern of my driving.
Smooth driving with easy throttle transitions always delivers the best mileage over other driving styles. So, if you're a smooth driver expect no change in gas mileage with Sprint Booster. But, if you are constantly on and completely off the throttle, then I think gas mileage will suffer a bit with Sprint Booster as it reacts to smaller throttle changes.
Note, I had a Sprint Booster on my 2009 & 2011 4.6, which I liked a lot. My present ride is a 2013 3.8; and I think OEM throttle response is much better than previous models to the point where I don't think I will buy a Sprint Booster for the 2013 should it become available.

I see a lot of people complaining about throttle response lag but I have yet to see it or notice it in my '12 R Spec.

The only lag I see is when flooring the pedal trying to pass someone. But that lag is based on the tranny trying to downshift several gears, not the throttle response. I don't think a booster will help that. The cure would be a better tranny tune.

I agree about the '12. The lag is minimal and it's rather just using muscle memory to know how far to press the pedal to prompt a downshift when needed. Once it decides to shift, it happens quickly enough for me.

Going from 8 to 4 or even 8 to 3 on the interstate is going to take a second to process mechanically.

Something to keep in mind. You cannot reduce latency by adding something in the fiber optic line. The largest issue is that many posters here who have issues getting proper throttle response don't understand how electronic throttle control works. You push the pedal and the ecu reads your throttle position. Based on many variables, gear, speed, and calculated throttle (percentage from 0-100) the car makes a decision.

Additionally the throttle doesn't translate in a linear pattern. You have to push the pedal hard enough to trigger lowest available gear, or wait as it shifts 8-7-6-5-4-3-2. Without engaging the kickdown switch, it will reevaluate throttle, speed, gear after each shift.

If you need instant power, floor it and back off as needed, instead of easing into it gingerly (and confusing the ecu in the process).

I have one of these on my AMG E55 & it really wakes up the car! I have been waffling on putting one on my 2012 4.6 Genesis as it's a pretty expensive mod for just increasing throttle gain. I don't recall it being that much when I bought it years ago!

Let me know if you get one for your 2012. I've thought about it too for my 12.

I will probably do it, just have to talk myself into it! lol

Went ahead and bought one over the weekend for an early birthday present. After reading forums for other makes that suffer from the response delay in the throttle, I figured I would see if I got similar results for the Genesis.

I'll report back when I get it installed and have some ride time messing around with it.

OK, installed the Sprintbooster & took her for a spin. In both enhanced modes, whatever perceived lag you have on hard acceleration (ie. passing or mashing the throttle) are pretty much gone! When you hit it, the tranny chooses the gear & you're off. I tried it in both max & med settings & they're both good, the max has instantaneous throttle response, the med has great throttle response as well with out the lurching you can get off throttle with the max setting. You can choose between all of the settings, (max, med, & stock) on the fly for the one that suits you. I don't know how the 3.8 will react, but I assume it must be similar. I will probably use the med the most! My other car has a gen 1 Sprintbooster set on max, but that car has a ton more hp & utilizes the max setting the best! I think it's a worthwhile investment as it makes the car a heck of a lot more responsive & fun to drive! It will increase your 0-60 times! The max setting will probably destroy your town mileage because you won't keep your right foot out of the gas pedal!
