Squared Setup advice

I just bought a set of 19x8.5 wheels, and will still rock the 225/40R19 front and 255/35R19 rear until I need new tires.

When I need new tires, I was thinking of going 235/40R19 all the way around. I was thinking for ease of tire rotation.

1. How drastically would this change the looks?
2. Has anyone done anything similar?
3. Besides looks, is there any reason why I shouldn't do this?
4. Any other advice?

The engineers and test drivers spent tons of money and hours of testing to come up with the best combination of handling. I trust their recommendation over some guy on an internet forum. But your choice to make.

235/40R19 all around would be good for Winter tire setup. For Summer tires, you'd want a bit more tire for handling the torque 3.3T can put down. With you new set of 19x8.5, 255/35R19 around would work well.

For reference, we currently run 255/40R18 on 18x8.5 on our G70. Steering effort is not any noticeably higher than with stock 225 front. Stock G70 has a tendency for initial understeer on turn-in. The larger front tire makes it a bit more more neutral. Only down side is a bit higher road noise, which is to be expected with wider tires. MPG might've dropped a tiny bit as well, though nothing worth worrying about. it's a compromise, and it's up to you to decide what works best for you.

How far you deviate from stock tire setup depends largely on your experience/comfort level with suspension modifications - because that is what changing tire sizing is. Nothing wrong with staying stock. Neither is changing it up, if you know what you are doing and understand what the consequences would be. Tire setup, as with any suspension tuning, is an act of compromise. Stock sizing are what Genesis deemed as most suitable for the largest percentile of drivers that buy this car and how they might drive... which is not necessarily what works optimally for every driver. If what you plan on doing with your G70 falls away from the center of the bell curve, then mods are worth considering.

I run 245/40R19 on the front, 8.5 inch wide wheel, (and 275/35R19 on 9.5 inch wheel, on the rear), so you could run those all around. They are about a half inch taller in diameter, which is exactly what I wanted. The 255/35R19, Volfy mentions, are the same diameter as the stock 225/40R19.

So what sizes did you end up going with? I bought new wheels and switched to a square (non-staggered) set up at the end of November, also.
