  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2009 sedan developed a squeak in the drivers seat back after 3 months. Took it to dealer and they fixed it,fix lasted two weeks. Took it back at next service, they had it for two days, this fix lasted three weeks. It only happens when you push back in the seat slowly, just what happens when you accelerate. I could not take it any longer and asked for a new seat. They had me meet with the regional service supervisor,he sat in another car and pushed back in the seat and said it is not a normal sound and ordered a new seat back.I was given a loaner Genesis for a week. Its ok now I hope it lasts. Has anyone else had this problem?

Never had that problem on mine.
But then, I have less than 4k miles on mine.

At least you got a new seat! That's good. :)

Same issue here. Started at about 16K miles. Seems to be worse if my butt is off center to the right. Maybe I should lose a few lbs. :o

I know this is nearly a year later but, I'm having the same issue at 3,000 miles. I think the squeak is about the same pitch as the armrest and glove box squeaks I'm also experiencing. I afraid to ask the dealer to "fix" it. My experience with previous cars is they can't fix many interior issues with out causing more problems

Mine did this also... I took some leather cleaner and cleaned the sides of the seats... The leather was ever so slightly rubbing the console. The leather cleaner I guess lubed it up enough to quiet the squeek.

It hasn't squeaked for about 6 months...it recently just started. I need to put more Lexol on...

I had a squeaky seat in my 2011 Genesis and it started within a week or two.

It squeaked when I accelerated, when slowing and when turning. It drove me nuts.

It was the seatback only and I could demonstrate it easily just by leaning back and pushing.

The dealership mechanic got in it, heard it, and I left it with them. They determined there wasn't anything they could do and a new seatback was ordered and installed. End of problem.

As to the longevity of the fix, I traded it in for an Equus, so I don't know.

I think having the dealership on your side really helps when it comes to having faulty items (or even cars) replaced.

Thanks for the feedback. Just like you, this squeaking noise presents itself when I accelerated, when slowing and when turning. However, I'm getting this squeak in several areas and am not sure they would want to replace all of the offending items (both front seats, the armrest and the glove box. Addtionally, I have found that once you have to take apart the interior, things are never quite the same.

Unfortunately, I'm not ready for an Equus (maybe one day).

Yep, just a couple of weeks back (around 3500 miles) i had the exact same issue. the seat would squeek if I pushed back to adjust my seating position, or accelerated, or went over bumps. They fully replaced the seat back with a new one, nearly 700 miles and not a peep. It took about a week, but I had a loan, so all was good.

I dropped the car of this morning to have the tires speed & road force balanced and asked them to investigate the squeaks.

BTW - While washing the car last night, I found a small area near the headlights where the paint is peeling. What is that?
