  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Squeaks/Rattles

Most of the squeaks and rattles can be fixed if you take your car into the dealership. They will fix it under warranty free of charge. In most cases, they'll even give you a loaner car.

I haven't had any squeaks/rattles with my Genesis but I had it happen few times on my Lexus IS250. First one came from the driver's side door. Something would rattle. The service manager had to drive the car with me (we even got on the highway) because they couldn't replicate the sound on their parking lot. DUH!!! After they fixed that, there was a squeak coming from the passenger seat everytime I took turns. After about a week or so and them adding close to 50 miles to the car (they said they had to drive the car many times to make sure the squeaks were gone), they fixed it. That was during the first 3 months of owning the car and I didn't have any rattles until my second year of ownership. I didn't bother getting that fixed.

I have not even been back to the dealer one time yet. First oil change was done when I was out of state. Eventually will get there but really don't look forward to it. Genesis thankfully is pretty decent car that does not necessitate multiple trips to dealer for a bunch of annoying issues.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Got to the dealer today to have the annoying squeak in rear suspension checked out. Fortunately while test driving, the tech finally heard it. States it is rear shock rubbing against the stop. Shock has been ordered and I will return next week to leave the cal and they will provide loaner. Had them look at the stretched leather driver's seat and they of course said nothing was wrong and that they had not seen this issue before. Surely not true but asked them to note it for record along with the radio occasionally coming on by itself and the very occasional steering wheel issue. They ordered a limit switch and will also install that next week.

I have a 2011 Genesis Sedan with 5000 miles. For the last couple of thousand miles the drivers seat backrest has been squeeking. I am pretty sure it is the backrest as I remove my back from the seat the squeek goes away. It appears to be coming from the lumbar area and sounds like it is from the springs.

It squeeks when I sit, accelerate, go over the slighest bump, or pretty much any time there is a change in the pressure applied to the backrest. It is even audible when the radio is on. It is very annoying. I have never had this problem with any other vehicle before. I will be taking it to the dealer Friday to try to get fixed.

Has anyone else had this problem and how was it fixed?

For those that listen to music with lots of bass, i found i heard rattling in the back near the sub on my tech pkg model.

i found that if i put up the automatic sun shade for the back window, the rattle is minimized.

do you guys think there's anyway to quiet this rattle when the sun curtain is down to its original non-open state?

I get the same experience on mine, but it doens't seem to matter if the sunshade is up or down.

If you don't use the sunshade I might first try laying some small pieces of thin fabric in the well opening when the shade is up then retract the shade. Maybe the fabric will tighten the fit and stop the rattle.
