Squeaky Brakes?

Wow, are you kidding me? I would have ripped that advisor a new one! Shouldn't have to pay a cent for anything while under warranty, especially within first year, and don't care if they consider brakes a wearable item. Never have I had a issue with squeaky brakes like what you're experiencing, except on a few occasions where I had a sticking pad, caliper etc. Sure, rust will build up after sitting and that usually wears off by the time you are at the end of the driveway or a few yards down the road.

That said, some pad compounds (carbon metallic) can have a greater tendency of noise/Squeal. But if it is consistent, that is not good. Anyone know what kind of pad compound the GV70 has?

I just got off the phone with the new service manager at the Genesis, and at least he was aware of my issue. He also brought up that issue with the high performance brakes on cars apparently being like this in other makes/models too, he is a former Land Rover/Jag service manager. Apparently it's present on the first two or three presses then goes away, which is my experience so far & is in that video I took as well.

He was sympathetic to the more "cosmetic" issue with this car sounding poor and leaving a poor impression, so gave me a couple steps to try and duplicate the issue and I'll be trying them. He said if I want to do the brake service early (apparently they do some service at 10k KM) he would bring it in again and do a check on it.

He will also be checking with the people he knows from the regional area to see if there was any follow up from the distributor here regarding the issue (I was informed from the regional rep that I will not be involved in the dissemination of that information, apparently - so it has to go through the service manager)

It's much nicer to actually deal with the Genesis guy, but this can only be his first or second week on the job and there was no handoff from the previous service manager, not the best situation but we will manage.
