If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Staggered 2015 3.8

Hi Vet, if that's your Ibiza Blue in your Avatar, then the wheels you have look like Blaque Diamond BD-23's (or knock-off's) and are not a house-brand but a quality wheel - I'm considering several BD wheels for when I put some new shoes on mine soon.

Those look surprisingly good on yours and would love to see some more side-angle shots to give us all a better perspective. And I agree with you regarding lesser-known rubber, I've had very good luck myself and saved a pretty penny going that route. Just gotta do your research.
I also looked at the avatar pic and think they look awesome. I am with whitey, I would love to see some more pics . I have some rims that are not round, and I was wondering if the aftermarket wheels are stronger than factory wheels

I was talking about the tires being a house brand, Achilles are the name of them. Sorry for the mix up. Yes, the wheels are BD-23s. No issues with them either, once a got a shop that knew what they were doing, to balance them correctly.

I think you’ll agree that I don’t have a lot of great pics of my setup. Taking pics of my possessions for the purpose of sharing with others is just not something that I do a lot and they’re currently not on my car. I like the wheels and have received plenty of compliments if that matters to anyone. 7B830C8C-9A78-474A-A886-A51A1A87F61E.webp137A4BA2-7217-40A8-9C17-41F179AC1FC2.webp44C188FB-A6F6-4F31-BCA2-39E72A733B64.webp2C69EAD3-DF45-457C-A4F7-B29429A36C7F.webp

Yes, Kraig, so long as you don't buy some cheap second-hand wheels, most major aftermarket wheel manufacturers produce fairly solid wheels on par or better than stock, even on their lower end. The range is wide, but a decent set of wheels can set you back between $1-2k (w/o tires) and go up from there. A nice set of Forged HRE's will dent you hard and take you to ~$15k and beyond. Not for my Genny, but maybe when I win that Lambo raffle, lol...

I prefer aftermarket wheels just because they usually reflect my individuality, and I always like to be different lol.

Yes Vet, I knew you were talking about the tires, hence why I said the comment about the rubber at the end. And I'm aware of Achilles Tires and they do have some fairly decent reviews from what I have seen. I've had my share of off-brands, some good and some not so good, but there are some great values out there.

I appreciate you snapping some shots (very nice indeed), as I have the twin Ibiza to yours and have been trying to decide which way to go on wheels. Yours were on my short-list and they do look rather impressive, but I'm leaning more toward the BD-21's at this point.

Ok thanks Whitey, I agree with you 100% about making your car match your personality and rims can definitely do that . I am yet to see another Genesis out here where I live, so I dont have look alike cars out here. I did not know you could spend so much$ on aftermarket wheels . I have always been a keep it factory / stock kind of guy, but some of these wheels aftreally look good!!

Yes I agree! Thanks Whitey

One of my friends bought Nankang tires and had no issues with them and we have pretty much the same setup. I went ahead and bout 2 Nankang tires for the front and we will see how long they hold up. By BF Goodrich Comp a2’s in the front lasted 20k miles.

Never have been a big fan of BFG's in general. My '15 came with a newer set of Advantage T/A's and they were terribly noisy and was planning on changing them, but ended up upgrading the car instead lol. Nankang's are Japanese and haven't heard anything negative, so I'd guess you should be good too; keep us posted on how they wear.

My '16 came with Nexen 5000 Pluses and I've been surprised at how smooth and relatively quiet they are. But I've noticed they are wearing quickly and with the new shoes coming in the near future, I'll be doing some tire shopping too.

I like BFG on my 2500hd and 2500 suburban, but When it comes to car tires the BFGs are noisy. Put them on my ex's Azera and wow were they loud! BFG KO 2 kick ass, IMO !

I'll take your word, Kraig. Never been a "truck" guy, so couldn't tell you when it comes to that; I'd be asking you instead. 👍

The BD-21s will be an excellent choice and a lot easier to clean than mine. If I had a redo I’d go with something similar for that reason alone. Share pics if you get them or whatever you get.

You'd be correct, Sir. Heck, 7 months ago I didn't even know I'd be driving one of these. They were always in the back of my mind from years of seeing them at the annual Tampa Bay Auto Show (and loved them btw) but wasn't really thinking about purchasing until I saw one on a lot while out looking. That was all it took, that lightning bolt hit me and I thought, "why am I not looking at one of these?" Two days later I owned one lol. 😲

And the learning hasn't stopped since. Over the years, I've been through many high-line forums, but this Genny family has been an amazing group of people so far! 🏆 Buying this vehicle has been one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. 😁

Funny, that's exactly one of the reasons I'm thinking those instead. I've done my share of laboring on intricate wheels to keep them spotless, but the wide five-spoke's look aggressive and seemingly should be easier to care for. Talked to BD and they said out of stock until Jan, so waiting for word and then will pick from my short-list. Pics will be forthcoming when they're finally on. Tint coming soon too, stay tuned.

I have the Blaque Diamond BD11’s

I knew yours looked familiar. I've looked at so many wheels with that similar multi-spoke design that they all start to look alike lol.

Good choice though. Like Vet's, yours look great on the car as well.

Can't wait to pull the trigger and get her running shoes on and looking all sporty...
