  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Start a Class Action Lawsuit for Connected Care?

If you have a G90 as I do, Genesis did a update starting in January 2023. They slowly migrated it to the cars over the last 2 months. If you have not done a complete update and restart to your system, your 4G system will have problems. If you need help, contact Genesis. (You will have to start by pushing the 'map key' and 'set up key' at the same time and follow a process to fully update and restart your system. You will also have to shut down and restart your mobile app and desktop as well. Just as a little more direction. Hope this is a fix to your complaint.)
The dealership did two map updates. Replaced the head unit once. A second head unit is on order for replacement. In a post somewhere on here. I listed all the numerous issues. Thank You for your input. I appreciate it.

Worked great and worked right are two different things. Car may have drove with no problems for 115k miles but for 115k miles, it didn't work according to the specs they gave to regulators, the specs used to sell the car. They lied to regulators and lied to customers to sell a car that didn't meet government regulations... that's what they're paying for.

It sucks for those of you who have the affected vehicles but to me the error was on Hyundai's part.

They choose to save cost by using 3G technology. 4G had been out since 2008ish. And even then, the phase out of 3G was being discussed as new requirements were being announced.

3G came out in 2001ish.

Also the way 3G/ 4G devices that used both are having issues. There may be firmware fixes coming though?

Considering 2G was in use for about 30 years, anyone would've assumed that 3G would be in use just as long. I think T-Mobile isn't shutting down their 2G network for another year.

Just wondering what year your G90 is.
Thanks

All 3G is being disbanded by Verizon and they did do it with 'some' warning.
There seems to be some misunderstanding here. You are talking about 3G but Genesis says our G90 cars are 4G LTE. Their website says our cars are not affected by the 3G sunset. Furthermore if you look up the modem IMEI it shows the hardware as LTE. So what do you think the problem is?

Thank You I have a 2019 G90 with about 25K miles. The dealership told me they have tried everything the engineers have suggested. Partial issues were fixed. But not Connected Services or unable to change a bluetooth call to private. So they are ordering a second replacement head unit.

Thanks but actually the model year question was for @Coatingsguy who is in the telecom industry.

All G90s are 4G, and are therefore not affected by the 3G sundown. However, starting in November of 2022, the Connected Services button on my rearview mirror stopped working due to some sort of software problem between Genesis and cellular carriers.

Sometime in mid-March the problem was solved and my Connected Services now works. I called Genesis corporate and asked for and received a 4 month extension for my Connected Services account to make up for the time it wasn't working. I suggest every else in the same boat do the same. It's a lot quicker and easier than a CAL, and it doesn't make any attorneys richer.

I am pleasantly amazed that your connected services is working. I have only heard of one other 2017-2019 G90 owner that has it working.

Can you please be a little more specific as to how it got fixed. Thanks

Hi guys… I posted a few weeks ago that my connected services is fixed. The dealership installed a 2nd replacement head unit under warranty. This time it was a refurbished part from a 2018 G90. I know this because when I reactivated XM radio. They told me that radio ID belong to a 2018 Genesis by another person. XM was unable to change the radio ID to my 2019 in their system. But I do have XM services. Also Connected Services gave me 1 year of free services. In addition the menu has Blue Link instead of Connected Services. With a Hyundai Blue Link phone number. I also own a Sonata, Hyundai Blue Link customer service is horrible. But when I push the button Connected Services answers right away with outstanding customer service.

Has anyone gotten their 2017 G90 to work with Connected Services?

WAZ, do you have the telephone number for Genesis Corporate in CA?? And possibly to whom you spoke with?
(844) 340-9741 No, I have no idea who I spoke with other than she was a pleasant young lady.

"Can you please be a little more specific as to how it got fixed. Thanks"

Last month I read somebody's post on this forum that said their Connected Services was working, so I went out to my car and pushed the button on the rearview mirror for schitz and giggles, and lo and behold, it worked. Then I tried to remote start the car, and that worked as well. That's when I called Customer Service and asked for a 4 month extension. So I didn't really do anything except call them back in November and open a case number.

WAZ, Thank you very much for the phone number at Genesis.

I have contacted Genesis by telephone numerous times relating to the Connected Services system on our 2018 G90. On each occasion the Genesis representative said an Engineer would call me!
Yesterday, I again called Connected Services and talked with Keyerra who indicated a case number already exists relating to our vehicle. She was very polite and essentially apologized for the delayed response. I once again was told an Engineer would call me. This seems to be the standard Genesis response when an owner contacts them relating to Connected Services.

The standard response I get is “the engineers are working on it”. Been hearing that for 3 months. When I ask how they know the engineers are working on it, they have no idea.

"Engineers" are working on mine for 4 months, still no update or no call back from them. Called yesterday, same response. Engineers will call me, yet no call ever comes. Connected Services still not working.

I don’t know about years 2017 and 2018 but all 2019 G90s. Are not supposed be effected by the 3G shutdown. You can call Connected Services for verification.
Yet my 2019 g90 isn't working, my local genesis rep doesn't know what's going on?! There should be class action law suit for genesis either to fix this issue or pay up for selling the cars with promotion of the services that were going to be disconnected come December 22.

My 2019 G90 was finally fixed under warranty by the dealership putting in a new “head unit”. As I understand it. The head unit is the electronics controlling the stereo, modem and connected services.
