  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As it stands right now:

- 3.5" to 4" coupler at the throttle body
- Spectre 4" dogleg 90-degree pipe
- Aeroquip -6 to -10 AN adapter with -10 Socketless fitting
- 4" to 3.75" coupler at MAF
- 4" filter

May step down to 3.5" piping for better clearance, had to remove duct for 4". Will fuss around with routing and fitment over the next few days. Regardless of which way I go, a heat shield/box will follow.

Very nice! I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Stepped down to 3.5" piping, air duct now back in place. Since the second half of the duct secured to the air box and just slid into the air duct, need to find a way to retain the second half into the air duct while still looking decent. Also ditched wormgear clamps for t-bolts for cleaner look. Still working on heat shield.

The 3.5" dogleg pipe is at 100-degree bend, versus my previous 4" which was at 90-degree. This has allowed for better clearance overall between the radiator neck and engine.

Very nice. She's throaty once you get rid of all the crap

Should be around $200 all said and done. I did things a little different, and that was the cost including shield

Got a cost on this? :)

$143.81 if you bought everything from Summit Racing.

Only thing not included, I had a left over coupler that had a sleeve inside of it that went from 4" to 3.75", I used this on the MAF as I could not readily find a coupler that went from 3.75" to 3.5".

Great build man. On the cheap, and it looks great!

Looks awesome! I would not do the air box separator thing though. Just the pipe and filter

Starting to reconsider this too, was playing around with some sheet metal yesterday and was not liking the fitment, or the cut up hands from not wearing any gloves :D

Lol. I think you will find you need it. Just use a bench vise and some 2x4's. Barring that, you can cut the sheet metal on either side to lessen the surface area needing to be bent

Are you guys talking about whether or not to do a heat shield? If so, I highly recommend building a heat shield. I did some testing in late summer.

Using my heat shield, which also tapped into the stock air scoop, I was able to obtain air temperatures not more than 10 degrees above ambient while cruising at normal speeds and much closer to ambient while moving at high way speeds.

Without the heat shield, soak happened much more quickly and it took much longer to get intake temps back down to ambient once moving at a good clip.

Is it possible for you to manufacture more heat shields for us?

No way. Not in that business.

First of all, I have a V6 and secondly anyone can make what I made. It's literally a converted office garbage can with pipe insulator sealing it against the hood.

HUGE IMAGE LOL

Sorry for the size of the pic. My LG G3 has massive resolution. Even paring down 50% leaves it enormous.

I was posting from my phone and I did not catch that.

Consilius

In regards to the order you show, if you have not ordered those parts from Summit, please call the following stores in Calgary to see how close they can come to your total. I hope your extra freight included Brokerage as you could be in for a big shock.

Call----Mopac Performance and JB Performance

Just an idea that might save you $$ and be able to get the parts right away.

I wish that the Spec-R was as easy as the 4.6 to do an air system::(

That was a copy of my invoice. I have warehouses in a few different states in the U.S. Will be getting someone to send it to me from there.

Also, I have had negative experience in the past with Mopac.
