  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anybody know how to lock your car while it is warming up in the mornings? In Ohio it is starting to get cold. I want to start the car and lock it while it is running.

Haven't tried any of this, but here's a couple of suggestions. Manually lock the three other doors from the inside of the car (with the car in park, lock the car using the lock switch on the door) -- then open the drivers door and get out. Remove the valet key from the smart key and manually lock the drivers door the old fashioned way.

Another thought -- if the car was running unlocked with the proximity (smart) key was not in range, the car probably would stall if a thief tried to put it in gear. Again, I haven't done either of these things, but I know Viper uses a similar technology for their remote starts when equipped for push-button start equipment.

My BMW allowed me to lock the car when running using the smart key and (I believe) the exterior door handle lock button. Good luck. I'd try these things now, but I'm traveling and don't car how Chrysler equips their cars.

With the car running, get out and use your manual key, from inside the fob,
To lock the drivers door. All of the doors will lock. You must unlock the car in the same manner.

If you have a regular schedule have you considered using the block heater on a timer.. Then you can warm up your car for 30 seconds and be on your way.. It saves a ton of gas since the car can run in closed loop fuel mapping sooner, and is also better for the engine then cold starts..

Cheers..

Thanks, I didn't even think about the key in the fob. Kinda forgot it was there.

Just bought 2022 G70 and figured it out:
Start car and exit. Login to app and “lock”.

Note: fob doesn’t work now so need to use app to “unlock”.

That’s it. Just pray app infrastructure doesn’t go down with your car running and doors locked - you won’t be able to get in.

I do not believe this is true of the 2009-2014 models.
