  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

WTF!!
Last night, i tried to start the car... pushed down on the brake pedal, but car would not start! the lights would come on and everything,, i know for sure it wasn't the battery..!!
i freaked out, and tried many many times.

Somehow, i think i held down the push button long enough and then it finally started., but this definitely doesn't seem normal.

any of you guys have the same problem???

2010 Gen Coup 3.8 GT

you have an auto I have a manual. the cell phone has to be away from the key fob, the key fob has to be in the right front pocket or close to the center console. You have to push and hold the start button about 3 seconds and wait 10 seconds before you try again. The computer has to see the key. If I go to fast mine will crap out and will have to wait 10 seconds for the next cycle .

The same thing happened to me many times and got worse over time. Pressing the start button would turn accessories on, but not crank the car. I took it to the dealership, they ran the code and said the brake pedal switch was faulty, which I had already figured based on articles I've read online such as the one below:

"On 2010 Hyundai Genesis and Coupe models, the cause of an intermittent no-start problem with the push start button usually turns out to be a defective brake pedal switch. The switch is not telling the system that the driver is depressing the brake pedal when the driver tries to start the engine. The fix is to replace the brake pedal switch (P/N 93810-3K000)."

They replaced it under warranty and it has worked like a charm ever since. No need to press for 3 seconds, one quick press starts it every time. This was on a 2010 2.0T Genesis Coupe.

Hope you get your problem resolved.
