  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 2019 G70 3.3T Elite. I have loved this car but it also has started to have loose steering to left and right randomly even though holding steering wheel completely straight. Feels like power steering going out which I have experienced with another car for comparisons, have to oversteer to keep in between lines on lane. I will NOT even consider to use launch fearing to lose total control of the car, and ironically service manager at dealership refused to do even though he said there was nothing wrong with the car. I am seeing this very frequently reoccurring complaint which is concerning to say the least. Ive had at dealer multiple times and they still continue to tell me this isnt happening, its driving completely normal, even though none of the technicians informing me of this own or drive a Genesis at all. Brings question to mind with so many of these same complaints, that they need to be recalling whatever is causing these problems and save face for their customers, customers safety, and their company’s reputation. I will otherwise soon be getting rid of it , as much as I love it and getting something else, to never purchase a Genesis ,or Hundaii again due to poor customer service and lack of any concern for anyones safety.

I'm not denying you have an issue, but where are all the other complaints? This is the first I'd heard of such.

may be alignment, excessive toe and camber can cause these traits as well.

There’s multiple more noted for g80 but beyond concerning when I am seeing post after post of people losing control of their car, steering is not controlled even though they are moving the wheel etc., also lawsuit of death due to loss of all brakes, and all steering. I researched these issues for more hours than I would like to think about but in seeing these major concerns for safety, the fact The dealership refuses to admit anything is wrong with the car and won’t fix this even when I can show them visually what’s happening and they check it all, say again that there’s nothing wrong -that tells me that they do not support their customers, Genesis never called me back with my escalated concerns and I’m expected to drive it until it totally breaks to be able to fix I guess now, if even at that point would it be wrecked because I lose total control. Which is clearly a possibility. Makes me very disappointed in the company, and I don’t trust the car now at this point sadly. In total there’s many issues with Genesis cars that I am seeing which then makes me wonder, I fix this issue, if I could even get it fixed due to lack of knowledge on the techs part mainly because they aren’t trained to work specifically on Genesis, then what’s going to go wrong next?. I am one to drive my cars for typical 6_8 years and I take impeccable care of them, loving the car as I do and how it makes me feel , sucks to have to make a choice to move on. And I will add, my daughter drives my car off and on and I don’t feel any way in the slightest comfortable to even let her drive now either.

That was mentioned on many other posts as well, Those many individuals had those things fixed and made absolutely no difference and they still had steering uncontrolled. My dealership has stated they checked all of that , they looked at tie rods and literally all involved in steering and they still say it’s all fine. They actually had the balls to tell me it was in my head and cars do loosen their steering- that’s normal. Ummm excuse me, steering feels completely different, and when I’m holding the steering wheel straight and not moving it at all and I’m literally and fully going into another lane within couple seconds?!!! WTF! and I told them , “this is something in the steering unit” they told me unless the car throws a code we cannot just start taking out parts and putting new in. Period. They refuse to even try to help me or even call a higher up within Genesis to support me in allowing them to have the “ok” to fix this . When the Genesis company is not addressing these issues with g80, there were G90 and clearly g70 that tells me they don’t give a shit about anyone’s safety. Again, constant battle to attempt to get them to step it up and do what’s right for the customer, but they do not . You will really have to dig to find these within here~it was like 4 hours or more in 1 sitting that I was looking and that was only 1 of the times~ I found a lot googled in different attempts as well and I unfortunately do not recall the name of the people for you to look up within this forum . If I come across I’m happy to let you know.

Wish you best of luck with yours by all means.

I'm actually not having any problems. My engineering background leads to the conclusion that your claims are extraordinary, which leads me to wanting some supporting evidence. You seem very reluctant or unable to provide any.
It seems you are saying that somehow the steering wheel physically disconnects from the front wheels such that while you hold the wheel still, the front wheels turn in one direction or the other. Then, it somehow reconnects such that it can be driven to the dealer and they note that it is now steering normally. You also say that many people have experienced this, yet I haven't heard of it before.

The sticking steering problem is well known, but only affected a few. This is far different than what you were describing.

Is not our steering electric? No power steering pump like we are used to basically. I’ve seen what looks like a rack and pinion set when under the car but not looked at it all that closely. If our steering column does not physically connect to the rack and pinion set and we are totally drive by wire…never given it much thought but that is sort of scary if fail safe systems are not in place? I’ve had a throttle by wire car before and never had an issue but if we have full drive by wire, then I learned something new.

It is electric assist. It is not steer by wire. There is still a physical shaft all the way from the steering wheel to the rack. There are a few cars that are steer by wire, but Genesis does not have any.

Thanks for the clarification. Our steering should not send us off in left field easily then.

You had asked for me to put out what I had found in research in this forum on steering problems. The start of the conversation is july 21, 2018 with user name of GARAK , its Many pages of multiple people with same problem . The video I tried to get over was by user name MAM. Keep paging forward in all those convos and theres videos to see. Other videos of same thing for other people in there to. Im getting rid of mine. I cant trust it with my daughter driving or myself. I do not feel safe anymore not knowing what could happen at any moment. In just researching in general online Hyundai has had other law suits for different models that have had steering issues. Lawsuits due to death. Some in here with steering issues stated date back to 2015. Sorry for bad news, Ive loved my Genesis too. Very disappointing to say the least.
