  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This past week, I've had this issue with my steering. At highway speeds (60+) the power steering seems to go away. When I get to street driving speeds it seems to go away. And the issue seems to happen in the morning. I've looked at the power steering fluid but it is at the appropriate level. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

I have an appointment on Monday morning with the dealer.

Sorry I should have clarified, 2011 4.6. 6,000 miles

Your story is the first time I've read anything like that. Let us know how it goes.

I had a similar problem- it was not serious at first-then became a real problem.
It turned out to be a bad power steering rack. Hyundai replaced it and is familiar with this problem. Other than that I think it's a great car and a real value. My last 2 cars were MB E320.

Could you let me know what dealership you had this work done at? My local dealership is baffled, maybe my dealership can talk to your dealership and get a recommendation.

They called hyundai tech and came up with nothing. They haven't been able to fully duplicate the problem by themselves without me in the car.

sorry for the delay-just got e-mail re your last post. my local dealer here in Tampa couldn't duplicate the issue either. However, when I drove to Atlanta a few weeks age- the problem got very serious. I called Rick Case Hyundai in Roswell,Ga. They treated me really great-got my car right in- saw the problem-called Hyundai Tech-got the rack overnighted from the west coast-replaced the power steering rack-problem fixed. The service writer at Rick Case that took care of me was Andrew Steadman- he did a great job for me. His phone # 770-225-6962. I'm sure he'll remember the issue. Good luck

They ended up switching the rack and pinion on my car like yours, work perfect again and I am back to being very happy with me car.

Sounds vaguely similar to my issue. Every time the weather outside gets below freezing, the steering seizes momentarily a few degrees either side of center. Force is required to budge it. Once it moves it's fine. But then center steer for a few seconds, and it starts again. Feels like PS going out then 'kicking' back in. Wonder if this is it?

yes- that is how my problem started. A cold morning in Atlanta- as temp warmed up- problem goes away. Back in Fla. for 6 weeks-almost no problems-then the problem reappeared, and quickly became a very big problem. be careful.

Appreciate the reply. Now I just need to wait for a really cold morning to demonstrate for the dealership.
