  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone,

My bad luck seems to be continuing. As of yesterday, I've been having a strange squeal when turning the steering wheel. I see absolutely no evidence of a power steering leak, and the fluid level seems totally fine. Just a bit below full, when cold.

Thoughts?

I've never had that exact sound, but a bit of cracking/snapping/plastic sound usually means you should change your steering wheel clockspring, so this could be related.

I had that issue and it was "fixed" under warranty...but by fixed I mean they did nothing, didn't test it, told me it was fixed and now I need to have another garage actually do it. You can also do it yourself but if it's under warranty you might as well save the 90$.

The dealership took the steering wheel and components apart, and still have no idea what's causing the sound. SO that's that... :(
