  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Folks,
I have a 2011 Sedan 4.6 - Still very happy.
Unfortunately my steering wheel (servo) will not adjust up to the complete upper position it used to move to when leaving the car. Even if I TRY to manually adjust it up, it won't. Yes, I can adjust it but only within a small range as compared to originally.

I wonder what is wrong. I'm hoping that I can just reset it.
Any ideas?

Thank you...

There is a Service Bulletin on this known problem. I used to be able to download the SB from HMA Service website for free. Not any more. May be somebody has downloaded and kept a copy.

This is a known problem, but I don't think it was recall, so not covered if the 5 year - 60K mile warranty has expired (unless there is a extended warranty). The fix does require replacement of some parts.

If you search these forums, you can find the previous threads about this subject.

Its a quick fix but a dealer will need to put in a new module and calibrate it.

I found the solution by accidentally coming across another post - "Tilt Steering Wheel Reset Fixes many" posted by Homeofstone and Originally Posted by zimmerman80

As mentioned above, with the car not running, I moved the steering wheel down as far as it would go holding the switch down for around 10 seconds. Then I moved the wheel in towards the dash, also holding that down for around 10 seconds after it stopped moving. Then when I pressed 'up', it went all the way!

After starting and stopping the engine, the memory system seems to be back again. Although this is annoying, it is a lot better than needing the dealership to do it each time.

Posted by Homeofstone..I had noticed in the last week that my steering wheel was not going up as far as it use to on the exit function. Tried this and presto! all is back to normal with full motion. Thanks for this reset fix, it is soooo easy.

Posted by GenesisV8tech.....Yes, the reset procedure did the trick and the steering column now has a full range of motion. I left "easy access" feature on and the steering wheel does not seem to be creeping down the dashboard so far(one day) every time I start the vehicle. The previously remembered positions of seat and wheel are getting where they were before I pushed the stop button.

The fix I posted will work for a while and can be redone a few times but eventually the module will need to be replaced. Glad it worked for you this time.
