Is anyone experiencing this noise. After turning the steering wheel to the right or to the left and when the steering wheel is returning to home position I can hear a slight clicking or squeaking noise(where the airbag assembly and turn signal and paddle shifters are located). It is very annoying and does it from time to time. Dealer has replaced turn signal assembly and lane departure sensor in the steering column. Still the clicking noise can be heard . They say it cannot be the airbag assembly. Any ideas?

Thanks

I have the same clicking noise , the springs from behind the airbag is making the noise. Super annoying

Initially, dealership thought the spring was the source of the problem but decided to replace haptic mechanism because it was malfunctioning. Did your dealership determine that spring was the problem and if so, do you plan to resolve that clicking noise with the dealership?

Curious to see what fix you find. When mine goes in for an oil change (in 2,000 miles) this is on my list for them to look at as well. Super loud and annoying, happens at low speed while the steering wheel 'unwinds' and returns to center.

Ditto! My dealership is awaiting to find out what you come up with as well. The dealership stated they will replace the spring in about two weeks. That spring normally cost about $140 and labor in $200 range, but will be replaced under warranty. I will keep you posted as well. I would think other Genesis owners are having the same clicking noise.

No issues with my 5.0 Ultimate. Build date below.

I'm having the same issue with my 2015 5.0. Thanks, Paul

I haven't had a chance to take the car in but from what I understand the steering wheel airbag needs to be replace, unless there's away to replace just the springs. But no worries you should be cover under warranty

One dealer had told me months ago they thought it had something to do with the airbag. Another dealer had stated there was a good chance the spring was acting up...I will keep ya posted.

I've had the same problem for a couple of months now in my 2015 3.8 Ultimate, 11,380 miles. Will have dealer address it when I get a chance and inform all of result.

Could it be something in the haptic mechanism? Makes sense to me that whatever causes the steering wheel to vibrate could also produce more rattles around it after it's gone off over the course of months/years...

Or maybe that is part of the airbag assembly that some have said needs to be replaced.

Originally, I was experiencing clicking noise and the "haptic steering wheel" warning message was being displayed. Dealership replaced haptic unit and another part in the steering unit. The haptic steering wheel message went away but the clicking noise has remained. Just last week the haptic steering wheel warning message has been displayed twice. Clicking noise growing worse. Waiting for oil change to readdress clicking and haptic warning message.

Dealership originally thought spring mechanism(vibrates) is making the noise but decided to replace haptic assembly since warning light was coming on. Will keep you posted.

I took mine into the dealership last month. He said that he really couldn't figure out exactly what is causing the noise but said Hyundai would not pay to repair it at this time. IF YOU HAVE HAD YOUR FIXED, please tell me what the dealer did to repair it and if you had to pay anything for the fix please.

Will do. I am do for an oil change in two weeks. The dealership is aware of the problem. My clicking noise was first reported within the first 90 days of ownership. The problem has been when taking it to the dealership either not being able to duplicate the noise or the noise at the time was too soft to identity precise location of noise. Now the clicking noise is loud and very frequent and definitely in steering housing. I will post the remedy.

Service rep drove with me today to determine source of clicking noise. They are going to order the spring assembly unit that is located directly behind airbag. I mentioned that other owners have suggested that the airbag could be source of problem. As soon as part arrives I will be given loaner and they will replace spring assembly and look at airbag. I will post the outcome.

No issues like this on my 15 AWD @ 31,000. smooth and quiet in the steering & column.

Service rep said they can provide me with a loaner next week so they can install new spring assembly in steering wheel assembly. Will keep ya posted.

I've had the same problem for a few weeks now on my 2015 3.8 AWD (12000 miles). Seems to only do it for the first few minutes of driving, then usually disappears. Look forward to hearing about the definitive cause.

Dealer removed the airbag assembly this morning and noticed a broken plastic clip that is directly behind the airbag assembly that holds wires. Replaced the plastic clip and drove the car this afternoon. Noise is still there. I don't know if the broken plastic clip was rubbing with the loose wires created an additional clicking noise. However, when I first had the car I did hear a loud popping noise that indicated something snapped/broke. Perhaps it could have been the clip breaking. Now the clicking/creaking noise can also be duplicated by grabbing the horn/airbag module and slightly turning and twisting it. Original noise is still there during normal driving and making turns. Also the click noise can sometimes be heard while going over a bump. Heading back to dealer tomorrow and they will look at the springs that push the horn back to normal position after horn is depressed. Also, look at that spring clockwork assembly. Sometimes the noise sounds as if something is loose. Will keep ya posted.
