  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone,

I just purchased a 2012 Genesis sedan and I made a bonehead mistake while installing the steering wheel wing emblem. Instead of installing it over the existing H, I pryed off the H which I did not realize was held in place by prongs. These prongs ended up breaking and fell back into the airbag cover. I am concerned these could become dangerous projectiles if the airbag goes off. Are these broken pieces directly directly in contact with the airbag or are they held within an adjacent compartment in the plastic cover? I have searched all over the web but have not been able to find any good photo that will show how this all fits together.

Can anyone with experience taking these off shed some light?
Thank you!

They are most certainly not part of the airbag itself. They are embedded in the plastic cover over the airbag so that the emblem will not come off as a projectile when the cover opens as the air bag deploys.

There are various posts on this subject in this forum, which specifically warn people not to try and remove the H from the airbag cover.

The wings are suppose to go on top of the "H". You may want to look into purchasing a Korean winged airbag to match your interior.

Thank you, this puts my mind at ease.
