  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Stinger 3.3T recall, think it will apply to G70 3.3Ts?

Great... 🫤

Here's a thread on the Stinger site about that particular feed tube, not an easy fix, 12hr drop the motor job :(

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Seems like the 19-21 G70 3.3Ts would also have this same affected part, anyone hear anything further?? Hopefully it's easy to access and repair/replace.

I thought it was already announced that the Genesis was part of the recall.

That is a different issue. The first is with the left turbocharger oil pipe and hose assembly, which may deteriorate from excess heat and leak oil, increases the risk of an engine compartment fire. The one you posted has to do with water entering the starter solenoid and causing an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire.

Thanks for the clarifications. My bad!

I just checked and I do have a recall on our 2020.... Sounds like the same issue the stinger has. No fix per recall as of now. Here's hoping fix isn't off the chart and available soon. It is about that left turbo oil feed tube.

Can confirm recall on my 2021 Prestige

Just spit-balling here, but hopefully Gs that weren't driven hard over their current life will have less of a chance of this part failing. If you regularly keep the 3.3 in the 6k rpm range, drive it hard a majority of the time, the oil temp, oil pressure, and engine temp will be quite a bit above someone that just cruises their car more subdued :)

Luckily being a recall it will be performed even outside of warranty periods as far as I know, and if that's indeed the case I'll just drive as is and keep an eye on things. I can't imagine this failure is inevitable. And can you imagine the shop backlog when this recall is live, a 12 hr shop labor time and not that many Genesis dealers. Could be a 6-12 month or higher wait if most affected 3.3s schedule to get this done. OUCH!!!!

I suspect you should be correct. I thought I read that they have less than 100 cases of this. This isn't a large percentage, but I wonder if an easier fix will be found. I guess we'll see soon enough.

the way Hyundai and Genesis have handled previous serious issues (con-rod bearings, DCT fiasco, etc), no way they'll remove an engine unless there's already a leak. And since it's a recall, meaning it'd get fixed beyond warranty indeed, no way I'd get that done unless I didn't have any choice, meaning I knew it was leaking already. So my guess is if people take their cars for that, there will be an 'inspection', and if not leaking, they'll send owners home.

It's still in the "no remedy" stage, so hopefully if & when these parts would need to be replaced there would be an easier solution. And like you, I wouldn't get it done unless there was indeed an issue.

Not sure why the 2023/2024 models aren't on the list. I would think it's the exact same setup.

They must have changed/fixed something?

I'm not at all happy about this. I don't trust these guys to change my oil, nevermind pull the engine. 🙄🫤

Got the recall on my 21 G70. Doesn't seem to be a solution yet but I saw on reddit someone called up Genesis and they're aiming for May to have a resolution. Really don't trust the dealer to pull the motor & I think Genesis doesn't either so hopefully they come up with a better solution by that time.

I heard the 22+ models have a stainless steel pipe and the 21 below models have something that's not metal, plastic maybe with a flex piece on it. Never checked it on mine for obvious reasons.

Ah, interesting. Where did you find that info?

Check this Stinger thread, shows the tube that's been failing, no pics or data for anything newer/revised.
