  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got an email saying the Connected Services feature called Stolen Vehicle Slowdown will no longer be supported.

I don't recall if this was a user-initiated action, if so, it could be a problem is misused. A disgruntled parent could "slow down" a car that their child borrowed but didn't return on time, causing an incident on the highway. But likely, all the immobilizer actions require police approval.

I got this too and did not recall we even had that feature. If the car has the ability, odd they want to disable a feature unless it has been hacked, compromised in some form or an incident occurred.

IIRC most manufacturers only allow this to law enforcement and dont let the general public have access to it. Its a huge liability to let the public have access to it.

Probably a feature mistakenly included for the US market. They likely simply corrected that error it would seem. ????

I can see letting the police dictate use of this option, like in a stolen car chase, but not something mommy and daddy can use on their daughter who isn't home at midnight - too unsafe.

According to Hyundai, it could be activated by police to allow them to gradually slow the vehicle. I wonder why they got rid of it.
Stolen Vehicle Slowdown - Used with Stolen Vehicle Recovery, this enables law enforcement to gradually reduce the engine power of the vehicle, thus slowing it down to safe levels. A warning will be transmitted to the driver prior to the slowdown procedure.

Not real impressed with their customer communications. No reason give, just that we're no longer supporting it. Kind of like the XM snafu that caused many owners to try and figure out why their infotainment system did weird things. They knew there was a problem and did no notification as it went on for months.
