  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've noticed when the car is just being driven first in the day, so far 5 of 5 days driven, that it has a very noticible strong rapid vibration which commences at about 35 MPH and continues to about 45 MPH. Shifting into N, or any other gear makes no difference. The vibration feels like the rapid warning strips at the side of a highway, and is felt in the arm rests/solid places, and is heard by a low rapid vibration sound as well. Very noticible.

Once the car has been driven about for a bit, say 10-15 minutes, the vibration is no longer there, and the ride is a 10 all around.

Turning ECT or other things on or off makes no difference either. The road makes no difference either.

I've never had a car with such short sidewalled tires. Could that be it, awaiting the rubber to warm up? They are Dunlop 5000's. I have read other posts about this 'thing'. Anyone know if it is 'confirmed'?

Thank you.

It sounds like you are describing driving on a flatted tire (that is caused from the car sitting.) What temperatures are you talking about and how long does it have to sit before you notice this. I've never experienced this with the Dunlops, driving in Michigan cold weather...but our car has never sat more than a couple days.

Well, S. Cal temps, 50's nights now, days are 70's-low 80's. In the evening it seems to take several hours. Day times, I don't know - not away and back enough to tell.

When I really notice it is in the morning, after it has sat all night.

I'll check the tire pressure tomorrow.

Well, time has passed - two years now, the vibration remained, initially it seemed only on cold tires. The vibration is a very low frequency, deep bass, 'sound' vibration, and which can be felt in the arm-rest as well, which normally begins in the 40's, and continues, typically up through and sometimes to the low 60's. The faster I go the faster the vibration is, but the bass sound remains the same. By the time I am at the low 60's it is still there, just so fast it blends in with the car more.

I had Michellins installed yesterday, and it made no difference, though the road noise is much less. Off to the dealership. I'm past warrranty with 40K, so I will see what they say.

May I ask why you didn't have the dealer check this in the last 2 years? When the car was still under warranty?
Or did you but didn't post their findings?

Since when does the warranty end at 40K miles?
