  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Are there any issues with running studded tires in the winter. A buddy has a set of 2 studded snow tires that are almost new he wants to sell me for $150. All I would need then is regular snow tires for the front. Just not to sure about running studded tires, because I will be putting them on in the beginning of winter and not pulling them off till the end.

Great question......which I don't believe has been covered in the forum yet. Studs are pretty much for ice, but do add a lot of road noice. Take the below Tirerack video for example. At 2:50 there is a great example of that.

Isn't that very question addressed in the OM? I think so, it definitely is in the Equus OM.

The 2009 owner's manual doesn't specifically say "no" to studded tires; it just has a warning to check with state & local regulations as MrB0462 posted.

Personally I think your nuts if you drive your Genesis in the snow/ice. I work at a Hyundai dealer in Oregon and factory recommends studded tires over chains/cables any day.
