  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a '12 4.6. New battery 02/19. Just returned from a trip 1500 miles no issues. Yesterday went to store, no issues. Later same day unlocked car, chime came on halfway through chime car went dead. Nothing works, no power even to lock car. I tried two different key fobs. I will check for loose battery connections. Anyone else have a sudden death?
****UPDATE**** Today, the next day, car started immediately. Locks worked, no issues. It was as if yesterday the car did not recognize key fob, or some anti theft was activated.

Next time it happens, slide your key fob into the slot on the dash (behind the ash tray). Then put your foot on the brake and press the start button. It’s all in the manual.

Do your fobs need new batteries?

Both fobs working. The key in the slot did not work, that was the first thing I tried. Tested battery, alternator and starter all good. Not a fob issue.

I would take you battery in to have it tested. Even though it’s a new battery, you could still get one with a dead cell.

I had a similar thing with my 3.8U, and there's been some other weird stuff that because the car doesn't toss a code or the dealer can't create it, it is like a ghost in the machine.

Once I came out of my Mom's AS home, it was a cold wet windy day, and it like lit up like a Christmas tree, and freaked out and died. So I freaked out, as I had only had it a few months. The weather sucked, so I left it and came back the next day. Jumped it, drove it to the dealer, they had it for had for four days - nothing.

I also observe menus and sounds in the wrong order or coming on early sometimes. In addition, sometimes it acts like I don't have the FOB whence walking up to it and I must hit the door handle button. The dealer suggested changing the batteries - again - so I did. I did put new batteries in both FOB's when I purchased the car a year and-a-half ago. It makes me wonder if I should trade it in for a newer model.

I had the same issue. Changed 3 batteries so far. The issue seems to come back after 6-12 months. Last time I changed the red box and all connectors and battery. I do have the platinum plus warranty but it didn't cover the 2nd and 3rd battery. only the first one.

HI all, did we find a fix to this issue? I am experiencing the same issues.

For some reason, the fobs chew through batteries all the time. Gotten to the point, I buy them in a 10 pack off Amazon. This never happened on my Acura RL. I had the original fob battery after 4 years.
After reading posts, I had my car battery checked for the fun of it...and it passed. The H9/95R battery is 4 years old.
