  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Started the car... Made a call... Forgot the car was started and held the start button again... Car died and I have no power at all right now. No lights, locks, windows, nothing at all.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I had that happen but was driving and stepped on the accelerator when the cruise was trying to slow the car down. Boom, no power - had to sit overnight to reset the computer. Sounds weird but it happened! Hopefully that's what the issue was with yours

I removed the battery to test/replace. My 6 year old battery like brand new accord to AutoZone, that's a plus. They said it must be the starter or alternator, but that doesn't explain why there'd be no power at all if the battery is prestine.

I removed and checked the small box attached to the positive terminal. Didn't find anything wrong, and figured I'd just have to get the car towed. Put everything back together, and the car started right up.

So you have no power. What would the starter have to do with it since it is not engaged? What would the alternator have to do with it if it is capable or charging the allegedly pristine battery? Do you really think a 6 year old battery is pristine?

First thing I would do is replace the 6 year old battery and if that does not fix the problem get a reputable shop to check it out, not Auto Zone.

Was the battery made in Korea?

I replaced my battery this past weekend (2015 5.0 with 98K) and it had info on the side saying it was made in Korea. From that I take it to mean that it was probably the original battery. Could it be the case that my battery was original?

You have an intermittent open somewhere at or near the battery connection. It could be a cracked fuse on the positive terminal clamp, the clamp itself, or something at the other end of the cable. This kind of failure is unlikely to be inside the battery itself (though not impossible).

Just a guess, but it could have just been a control module glitch(or failsafe) caused by the accidental start button press when the engine was already started. You may have corrected the issue when you disconnected the battery and reset the module.

I accidentally press the start button on my Genesis once when my engine was already started at a drivetru and it gave an fuel pump error message(check engine light) which cleared on its own as I drove. The hard code still remained in the system until I cleared it with a scan tool. At first I thought that I damaged the starting system.
