Summer reminder: Set rear climiate control to cool

Summer is here, and mid-day temperatures are topping 90. The other day I noticed my A/C seemed to be struggling to keep the car cool. I dropped my right hand behind the center console to see how much air was being sent to the rear and discovered that intensely hot air was pouring out. This is my first summer with my Genesis, and I had forgotten to set the rear climate control to cool rather than hot.

So, if you haven't already done so, set your rear temperature control to cool.

Also check that the rear climate control wheel does not move back toward hot due to vibration. Mine was moving toward hot by itself. Sure, I could take it back to the dealer and have him change the control, but then they take everything apart, and when they put it all back together with a new control, there could be new problems. What I did was simple. I just jammed a small peice of match book paper between the control and the housing. (can only see the paper if you look close). This prevents the control from moving to the hot position by itself, or to be more correct, prevents it from moving off the cold position, as anything off the cold position will be hot.

I'll make sure to check mine, but last time I checked, it was still set to cold position, just the way I set before.
Or better yet, I'll just close that vent.

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago when the temperature hit 28C, I move the wheel to as cool as possible in the back. But this week the temperature has been freezing in the morning so the heater has been belting out heat. All the while those vents in the back continued to push out cold air as I had set it. It is a nuisence to keep remembering to reset it as our crazy climate lurches back and forth between hot and cold.
