  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know there's already a thread on this, but I wanted to start a new one to address what specifically may be causing it.

There are plastic pieces an inch or so wide that parallel the sun roof running front to back (outside the car). You push on those and you get a creaking sound. Is this the sound people are hearing when they take their car in? Do these pieces get replaced when the sun roof is replaced by the dealer?

The existing thread seems to be very exhaustive discussing this subject....plastic is very well known to emit noise under various conditions.
Many cars are plagued with this problem albeit not necessary from the sunroof

I know, but the thread has lost focus and has become stale with complaining about dealers and what not. I want to understand what exactly was replaced and how it fixed the problem and why this would be a problem for some people and not others and is this just cosmetic or functional.

Right, which is why I would be interested to know what the dealer replaced that causes the noises to go away? In other words, what is the difference between the old sunroof and the new one? Before/after pictures would be great!
