  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Okay, so my 2015 3.8 tech is having some sunroof issues. So first, I noticed a couple days ago it started rattling. Then I opened and closed it and it worked this fine. This morning however I opened it. When I tried to close it, it sounded like it was having trouble and auto reversed open. It took another try and then it closed, but it did not sound good closing, sounded like it was struggling to close. Any ideas? Maybe it needs to be lubricated?

Yes, there are many posts and many threads on the issue and how to lubricate them. A search will find you plenty of information.

Okay so I played around with it more. It seems like if I open no more than about an 1/8th or so open, it seems to close just fine, but more than that it starts to struggle. Also, it still made the rattling noise when the sunroof was open. It's coming from the very front? What could the rattling noise be? And does it probably just need to be lubed? And what should I use to lube it?

There are other thread here about it. Start with this one

+1, it just needs to be lubed. The rattling is just the metal on metal friction as it's trying to move.

Mine started doing the same thing this past summer. I had silicone garage door lubricant handy which comes with a straw nozzle. Shot it straight into the rubber slot track on both sides of the roof (from the outside), ran the roof back and forth a few times to work it in and it smoothed right out.
