  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I really like most of the features of the Ultimate package. However, I would happily skip having to get the sunroof. Unfortunately Hyundai gives us no choice. I live in Southern California where in the summer it gets very hot, and frequently the air quality is unfortunately not the best, so having the sun doing a number on the skin is not a plus for me. I am sure some of you in other areas may feel likewise. Just curious, if other owners find this option really important or got it because it only comes that way. I am not saying do not have a sunroof just provide us the option of having a fully equipped Gen without it.

Without the sunroof, one rattle area would be reduced, perhaps the body could be made even tighter an safer. They already make the base unit without it, so it should be possible if they wanted to. What would be a reasonable deduct from the Tech or Ultimate option without a sunroof?

Haven't had any rattle issue with the sunroof. Not sure why you would have an issue with the sun if you don't press the button to retract the headliner.

Unfortunately the liner does not insulate from the heat well. And I would gladly forgo the panoramic roof, unfortunately not given the option as all the models in Dubai get it...

I do however like the contrast it gives to the paint job. However I have an seen E class recently with a black paint job on the roof to give the impression and look of the panoramic look with out the heat and noise downsides. It look pretty realistic so much so that I was surprised when the earner told me it was paint...

I had 3m crystaline installed on sunroof, makes a huge difference here in Texas. Basically I left a car in an open parking lot with the shade retracted and well, the car got hot, but not merely as hot as my 2010 Genesis used to in similar circumstances with the shade drawn.

I love the panoramic roof as it really lightens up the cabin and the tint on it is effective enough that I leave the shade open all the time. In my other vehicles, I keep the roof and shade closed most of the time due to heat and direct sunlight. I rarely open the roof itself though. The packaging certainly gives you no choice unless you want a base model. If you want to keep the sun out, just close the shade and it will be like not having a roof but the option is there for those trips up and down the PCH in the Spring and Fall :).

Thanks for the responses. Any idea of what kind of UV protection is with the shade open, but roof shut? XBOHDPuKC which level of 3M tint are you using? Is it better warranty wise (and possible) for dealer to do tinting?

I never had an ivory or very light interior until now. I can tell you the difference is rather amazing. The car never seems to get hot inside even on those really sunny hot days. I guess in the winter this will work against me when it dips down to -20 though.

Interior color helps as our Genesis has a beige interior but our cars have dark interiors. Still the sunroof's OEM tint works great and didn't bother tinting it when I got the other windows tinted (3M 35%). If I had to guess, I think the sunroof is around 20-25% from the factory.

I agree, the OEM tinting on the roof is amazing. I drive in Saudi (can get upto 50C) and have no issues leaving the headliner open. Gives it a nice open airy feel inside the cabin.
