  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just noticed this recently. When I close the interior sun/shade cover on the sunroof there is a noticeable slit of light coming through. It does not completely close. Anyone else have or had this issue and if so how did you resolve it.

Was having an issue with the actual sunroof closing very slow and the odd time taking 2-4 attempts to close. The dealer blew air through the tracks and applied lost of silicone lubricant and the sunroof is now closing faster but did not do anything for the shade cover.

about the sunroof closing that can happen and in our Saudi arabia genesis group we solved it without going to the dealership

There is a process to reset the sunroof in the owner's manual, that would be worth a try.

Ditto - Read the manual. It explains how to reset the sunroof close/open procedure

thanks will try it this weekend now that I am back home

The reset procedure is at p. 3-46 of my manual & is quite complex - too long to repeat here.

Mine was reset by mother nature on Monday (hailstorm). If you saw how fragile the glass is, and what little there is in the way of headliner (think $3 umbrella type material), you probably wouldn't even want to drive the car.

The retractable "headliner" needs to roll up like a shade on mandrels front and back so it has to be pretty thin. You can tell if you watch it open/close or touch it when closed, but it does it's job well - so there is no reason for it to be thicker as it would just add bulk and weight.

Meteorite strike! Dang, that is some serious hailstones.

That's what I would have thought (meterorites) if I hadn't been watching it in real time. It was actually a modest hairstorm compared to others we've had, and the genny sunroof was the only piece of glass in the entire neighborhood that was broken - to my knowledge.

So go figure.

Wow... that is some thin glass.

Wow... that is some thin glass.

It measures at .15 inches. Actually a "glass only" replacement can be done at your house courtesy of companies like SafeLite. My car had hail damage, in general, though - so it heads to the shop at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
