  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello and good day to all of you!!

I found this:

http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com/hyundai_genesis_sunroof_deflector.html

I have never had to purchase one of these before. Tell me, is that a reasonable price, do they really block a lot of the wind noise, do the look ugly on a car???

Thanks!

OH YEAH, I also sent them a message about "GENESIS" logoed hats and clothes! I like to support the products I purchase!! :) I already have a black shirt that I won on ebay for $3.00 that was worn 1 time at a ride and drive event!

I think that price is crazy, but everything on their site is crazy in my opinion.

They do help with wind noise, but I think they are pretty nasty looking.

That's just my 2 cents, but if you like it, buy it.

I have a sunroof deflector on my '06 MDX that works well to reduce noise and keep turbulent air out of the passenger compartment, but I'm not inclined to add one to the roof of my Genesis. Don't particularly like how the dark colored deflector would look on the platinum roof of my Gen, and when I do use the sunroof, I normally raise the back of the glass. Price-wise, $91 and change sounds somewhat reasonable in my view. I paid $103 for the deflector on my MDX a couple of years ago through an Acura parts discount site, and it was identical to the deflector sold by Acura dealers for around $125.

The open sunroof on the Genesis (open, not tilted up) is one of the quietest open sunroofs that I have seen. Very little air enters the car with it open. I've had wind deflectors in the past, and in this case, the wind deflector is not needed..

I'm sure every car is different, but I took the wind deflector off of my silver accord when I lived in MN for a year so that snow/salt wouldn't get stuck underneath. After I removed the deflector, I noticed that the paint directly beneath the deflector was different. It's as if over time, the deflector somehow altered the paint. Sure this doesn't concern most since people rarely look at the top of a car. Just adding my 2 cents.

there are deflectors out there that are very low and virtually unnoticeble from the outside, but from my experience the amount of wind noise that is reduced by them is minimal.

Not a big fan of the wind deflectors, especially those plastic/plexiglass ones. They may work, but they take away from the appearance of the vehicle in my opinion. I don't know much, if anything about the high tech options which are out there now.

ok...enough said!

I am not going to purchase the deflector!!!

THANKS GUYS!!

I have been a fan of sunroof deflectors over the years and have had them on several cars. I think they are really both car and color dependent. Unfortunately it has been very cold since I have had a black V8 Tech Genesis and have not had the opportunity to so major miles with sunroof open. My feeling is that the Lexicon is so competent that the wind noise issue will be a non issue for those who do not mind cranking the volume.
Some cars look better with a delector and some look worse. The price point seems reasonable. The Weather Tech generic deflector is $79 while you can find them from $40 to $129 from 'brnad name' companies.
One caution is that even the high quality ones are suspectiple to scratches and over the years they start to dull and become a little cloudy. Beware of the automated car washes.
I am very interested to see what the Genesis looks like with this.
