  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Supercharging my 5.0 Genesis R-Spec

Having been inside the 5.0 Tau, I can honestly say it appears to be a stout engine. Can't confirm whether or not it's got forged internals, but I can tell you it's got H beam style rods, 4 bolt rod caps and 6 bolt mains. The cylinder heads have plenty of material around the intake and exhaust runners to accommodate porting. Camshafts have decent lift and adequate lobe separation. Rocker arms are miniscule and in my opinion could cause failure issues. Valve springs are "beehive" style, so I believe valve seat pressure would also be adequate.

With all of that being said, good luck to the person who can find tuning for forced induction.

Do the fuel pump lobes also operate one of the valves or are they completely on their own? I know they should be on their own but you never know these days.

The fuel pump eccentrics are dedicated to the fuel pumps.

For the initial post about supercharging his 5.0 theres a website which sells transmission parts i think its called level10 transmission they sell some valvebody and transmission upgrades.

it took a while for people to force induct the Lexus ISF, and when the kit was released, its 10-13k for parts...how much do you love your Genesis to pay even 7k for a supercharger...

Not sure if they are still the same people there but many years ago they had a ton of complaints.

so here's the deal! Im working with a local engine machine shop bc i just bought a 2014 gt500 supercharger to slap on the gen. The shop is currently making a custom manifold and pulley mount bracket to seat the supercharger. Before they put the supercharger on, i asked them to add a custom stroker kit, port the heads, and upgrade the cams to see how far can the engine be pushed without forced air. They say that it'll make 500-600whp bc that's what i asked for. Could prob push it up to 700-1000whp, but they say ill have to run e85 and/or spray to get those type of numbers. I dont want to full blown race car my genesis so im staying on 93 pump gas. I jus want to keep up with hellcats and corvettes. The only headache is where the f$%k am i gonna find someone that can tune the 5.0 ecu, they say they cannot tune it bc they never worked on a 5.0 tau engine/ecu before. Im not gonna be able to dyno nor drive the genny until i find someone that can tune the 5.0 Tau ecu, so if anyone has any info hmu asap. Some1 pls get the word out and let me know if u find something!
Did you ever get that Bolton from the gt500 to fit.

For sure, ill have to reach out to them and see what they can do for me. The only down side is how do i get the car to canada from Texas bc i figured theyll need the whole vehicle to correctly dyno tune & etc. Thanks for your insight & and recommendations!
Hey man did anything ever happend ? I’m really interested what happend with the supercharger
