  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is it possible to swap out the existing touch screen in my 2020 G70 with the new 10.25 inch screen from the 2022 model? Not sure if these are modular and can be easily done but was curious.

Highly doubt it.

That would be dope
I think this requires switching the middle trim, screen and headunit

Anything is possible if you spend enough time and money on it. Question is what are you willing to spend.

Referencing what folks have done with the sister car, Kia Stinger... screen swap is possible but you need to swap in a matching "head unit". The touchscreen is just a user interface/display device, the "brain" that does all the controlling, processing, and tuning is in the "deck" below the touchscreen.

I would imagine the G70's set up is similar. Buying brand new parts from Genesis OEM supplier will be prohibitively expensive. You might as well trade in your car to get all the other benefits of a new '22. So... buying used parts from a salvaged G70 is probably the only way to go. Problem with that is finding enough crashed G70 as donor vehicles. There just aren't that many. Scarcity of supply means high prices when they do show up. Unlike other mechanical parts like engine and brakes, G70's dash and instrument panels aren't shared with the Stinger.

Re: the reply by Volfy above; I think it was the magician and card trick extraordinaire Ricky Jay said that sometimes the secret to magic is spending way more time on something than anyone would ever imagine.

If the connectors are the same, it might be a simple swap. If they’re different for the refresh, then you start getting into expensive issues. To that end, I found some photos of used listings:
The black connector is the “new”/refreshed display, the white connector is the old style.

You’d also need the dash pad to fit the new footprint.

Anyone do this?

I hope someone does it
You will need to swap out the head unit as well because the new software won’t support the old head unit

I think the old dash cutout isn’t large enough as well

It might be the same width, its possible that the actual visible screen size is bigger due to slimmer side walls

Highly doubt anybody would be doing this any time soon. You would need to wait until somebody crashes and totals their '22+ G70, for the salvage parts to show up on ebay. Even then, buying used touchscreen, head unit, and all the trim pieces required for the retrofit won't be chump change.

Buying all the parts brand new would be prohibitively expensive. You'd be better off trading your older G70 for a '22.

For me, our '21 G70 infotainment system with Lexicon isn't all that shabby. My '19 base Stinger is rather pedestrian by comparison. Still, I just bought an Android Auto wireless dongle for less than $100 and so far I like it a lot. Of course, it's still the same old screen and AA BT isn't perfect, but it is an excellent upgrade worth every penny. I like it a whole lot better now.

I found a 22 screen and 22 head unit control for about 700 each on eBay. It’s def pricey but I’m just so curious if it’ll work

BTW, you also need to make sure you know what package(s) the donor car had and how well they match up with yours. If they are too different, the Head Unit may be expecting connections to equipment/features your car does not have. In that case, you may need to reprogram the Head Unit to a configuration compatible with your car. I'm not sure if that can be done by getting into the Engineering Menu an toggling certain settings, or it requires programming tools that normally only dealer service dept have access to.

It's the same as with swapping the instrument panel. It can be done, with caveats.
