Tail Light Replacement - How To Remove Body Color Strip From Unit

I am replacing a broken tail light unit with one I got from salvage. The new unit has a body color strip that splits the two light bars and the donor unit was from a different color car. Any tips? I'm thinking heat gun and a flat-head to pry it up because it looks like its just held on by an adhesive. Once I get it off, I'll need to replace the adhesive. Any ideas on what kind of adhesive strip I need to look for? Is there automotive grade adhesive?

Id check the other side and make sure that there aren't any small screws attached before trying to heat and pull off.
