  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tail Light Tinting

Exactly what tail light are your talking about? The rear break lights, turn signals?

Isn't that illegal and/or unsafe?

What is the Black DUB edition? Do you have a link?

Tail light tinting is illegal depending on how dark the final product is. I know the law in MN states the tail lights must be visible from a minimun of 500 feet, which isn't very far away in perspective.

Another option is available that is very inexpensive:

You can buy the "tail light tint" from Summit racing and it is a 7oz spray can of basically transparent smoked paint. I used this a a car about 10 years ago and it can look good on certain cars. Important reminder is to take out your tail lights to do this, or tape off your car very well, and to do multiple coats of this.

Con to this product is it is more permanant than the film that is used

Pro is is a hell of a lot cheaper and when done correctly, looks fine.

Wow!

One reason I bought the Genesis is that it had two safety features I wanted:

1. Amber rear turn indicators (I don't think the red ones are as noticeable).

2. Turn indicators on the side view mirrors.

The last thing I would want is to darken any exterior lights on my car.

I agree with you completely Mark!

I am not a fan of tinting taillights, not only because of the safety factor, I just dont think it adds any styling to the car.

i now agree as well because my mother has forbidden me to get it done.
hahahahaha
I didn't even notice your age before now. Is that your car, or your mother's car? When I was your age I was driving an 11 year old VW Beetle.

Edit: BTW, I just looked up the specs, and my 1960 VW Beetle had a 36 hp engine.

For those who feel they have to tint just be warned that some inspection stations will "fail" the car if the tint is too dark. I live in MA and see a lot of cars with windows so dark they should never pass inspection yet they do. Maybe tinting the tail lights isn't a big deal but it's not for me. :)

A lot of states only do emission inspections, and then only in major metropolitan areas.

I see tint violations (20% or less) in my area all the time even though only 35% tinting on driver side window is allowed (some states only allow 50%, 70%, or no tint on driver side window). I even saw one car with a front windshield that tinted fairly dark, and tinting of front windshields (beyond manufacturer glass tint) is prohibited in my state, and almost every state.

oh it's my car
i paid for it

no parental help at all

i live at home though
room and board is cheaper haha

I agree with you Mark. One thing that definitely make me buy Aa genesis was the turn signal in the side view mirror just like a Mercedes
