  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I <state your name> will never, ever pay over MSRP for a Genesis

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If I get that $500 coupon I won't even pay MSRP!

Amen brother!

I like your pledge idea. Hope it works.

Dealers and salesmen are just doing what works.

My company sells a product on the internet. We did a A/B split test on it. The only thing we did was double the price. I was nervous because I thought we would lose customers, no sales for the time of the test. I was ready to pull the plug on this test as soon as I got results.

The results? Sales tripled. Returns dropped to almost nothing. Much better customer feedback. Huh??? What the ....

They are just doing what works.

I grudgingly agreed to pay MSRP for a Genesis but it is the Admin Service Fee that kills me. They never disclose it until you shake hands on the price. Most dealers around here charge +/- $800 to "prep the vehicle" and it is pure profit.

Any other vehicle and I would have shopped for a discount.

Don't you hate that crap!! They get emotionally into the car settle on a price then start with the additional crap.

Really you are at a disadvantage in this game. They do this everyday, hundreds of times a month. You buy a car once every two to three years.

I've usually sucked it up when they've done it to me. What you really need to do is walk. Bet they would cave before you got to your car.

Sorry RRL, this isn't working. Like a freak I have been closely watching local inventories. These things aren't moving. They certainly didn't move with the Market Adjustment and they are not moving at MSRP.

There is no doubt that pricing is a very difficult thing to settle on. My issue is that Hyundai has already set the price for they vehicle. They took all things into consideration and believe they and the dealer can make money at the MSRP. Now, some dealer wants to add a "Market Adjustment" on top of the MSRP. HELL NO!

If you want me to pay above sticker add some freakin value to the deal! How about free oil changes for life, guaranteed loaner if service is needed, free tire rotation and balance, or free tires. Don't just try to duke me for a few extra bucks because the car is on your lot. Guess what? Lets just let that baby sit there a while. You start paying the monthly interest on your floorplan for a little while. Or better yet, how about I NEVER buy a car from your sorry ass, ever! You didn't make this car and you sure as hell don't have a better Genesis than the next guy. So what do they have to offer.

Guys, lets not forget. MSRP stands for Manufacturer's SUGGESTED Retial Price. It's merely a suggestion. I suggest we pay a little less!

OK, I feel better now. I want a Genesis but I will honor the pledge.

eBay is the perfect place to see the true market value of things like this. On one side of the spectrum you have people like me that live in markets that have inventory but I want a deal I feel good about. On the other side of the spectrum you have people that want a Genesis but don't have access to them due to where they live or their local dealers don't have them. eBay levels all that. The Genesis isn't bringing MSRP on eBay.

They will start to wiggle a little. We just have to be patient. Right now the dealers are looking for the guy that has to have it today. When he doesn't show, we can go make a deal...........and then throw our $500 coupons down!

Remember folks, it's still a week till launch month. Not too many folks know about this beast, except us. You really need to be paying attention to know they are here and for sale. If I were Hyundai Marketing, my first launch commercial would be 8/8/08, the opening ceremonies for the Olympics. Follow that up with ads in selected markets for NFL pre-season games. If they launch it right, they will have no inventory by the end of August. If they cut deals [below MSRP] now, they will have slim/no inventory to show when the launch hits. I feel very lucky to be getting the very first pack 4 in my area for 1K under MSRP [including the coupon]. When the launch hits, I think you will begin to see huge "swaps" between dealers from those who have to those who need. Think about it. If you're a dealer who can support a 5K markup [obnoxious as it is], you can source cars as needed from dealers who have them, and pay them MSRP to transfer it to you, and you still make $$. Why bother with customers if another dealer will ante up MSRP.:)

I took that pledge years ago; but it wasn't just limited to the Genesis. Actually, I cannot remember ever buying a car when I did not pay under MSRP.
