  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Taking off.

Ha, now you're just trolling me. No way in hell you get a glimpse of me in your rear view unless I'm driving the other direction. ;)

True! But like I said, if you're spinnin', you ain't winnin; :p You'd have to stop spinning long enough to catch me. Because if you're lighting them up like that, I'm going to beat you off the line!

Sorry for my ignorance, but, what is TCU and ECU?

Also, how do you defeat the problem with the 4.6L that you cannot defeat with the 3.8L?

ECU is like the brain of the electronics in the vehicle. It's the central processing unit so to speak. The TCU is an ancillary processing unit that controls how to transmission reacts to inputs.

With V8's, people have found a way to totally defeat the system that restricts the amount of power the engine can send to the wheels from a dead stop. Simply depressing the ESC button only slightly reduces the effects of this system. Pulling a certain fuse and then pressing a sequence of button appears to fully deactivate the system and allows you to potentially accelerate much more quickly from a dead stop.

This same procedure does not deactivate the V6's traction system.
