Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I hope they really have the car in hand as the ad suggests, because that photo is for a Genesis 3.8L not the 4.6L.

They have been running this for several weeks. If you read the complete ad it pretty much states that they do not have the vehicle.

From the ad:

Some brief notes on this pre-sale vehicle: Vehicle is available within thirty days of auction close. We do have other similarly equipped V6 Genesis available and other luxury vehicles on eBay, simply inquire for further details.

They have listed several Genesis on eBay. I made an offer on one. They just kept emailing asking for my phone number (even after they sent me an email asking how I prefer to handle communication with them). I would get repeated emails telling me that they are reviewing the offers and asking for my phone number. They would never answer any questions. I finally just gave up.

The crazy part is that if you look at their past Genesis auctions, no final bids were close to sticker! I offered $37K for a V6 Tech Package.

Car was manufactured week ago.
Is scheduled to be shipped this week.
4 to 6 weeks enroute to LA (estimate)
1 to 2 weeks in customs (estimate)
1 to 2 weeks on truck (estimate)

Supposed to be first production V8 made for US public purchase.

6 to 10 weeks?
Early September to Mid October??

$50k????? LOL!!!! I don't know who's more of the idiot, the dealer or the person who would buy this car at that price!!!!!

Hi RichieRichLancair,
I was just curious about how that you knew that the first manufactured V-8 that is U. S. bound got manufactured last week?

You know after talking to several dealers and the Hyundai Central Region Office as to the current locations and status of the V-8 Genesis I have come to the following conclusion. Either the big wheels at Hyundai has asked all of the Hyundai dealers and reps to play dumb for now or they actually don't know.

I asked the rep at the Hyundai Central Regional office if Hyundai tracks each car being built, in transit, arriving at port, and where they are in transit to the various dealerships?

The answer was no! More than one dealer as told me the same thing! I do know that the dealers can at least locate other vehicles at other dealerships when a customer wants a different color, diff equip, etc. I don't know if this is a special website for dealers only or what? Some of you guys out there no doubt have the answer on that.

At any rate I find it ironic that you can track little packages all around the world as to their location and status and yet Hyundai is telling me they don't have a clue where their cars are!

My instincts tell me that they do in fact know right where they are. What do the rest of you guys think? I got to say I find nothing wrong with Hyundai vehicles but boy I am getting frustrated with the V-8 Genesis mysteries out there.

The dealer in the ad told me it was the first V8 production unit.

This guy has said some pretty bizarre stuff about these cars, that are now coming true. I'm beginning to wonder if he has an inside track.

Hyundai, like all auto manufacturers assign a VIN when production is scheduled. KMHGC46F99U004557 is this cars.

1) 4557 is before 5000+ which is the VINs being produced now. I figured it was produced last week or the maybe even the week before.
2) The status changes to inbound when the vehicle is shipped. Doesn't give an ETA.
3) The estimates I used were from friends that import from China. Not Korea. I'm sure these estimates are off. Probably much harder to get a car through customs.

I'm hoping that when this car arrives it is a V8 and there will be others following it. I have not found any other V8s that have a VIN assigned yet.

My two best friends, are large Hyundai dealer sales managers. One was my best man, and I was his. In June Hyundai told them each they could order up to 5 V8s. Since then Hyundai, has cancelled 9 of them. Neither has received any V6s yet. The V6s are still showing inbound. They are frustrated also.

If 5000 Genesis's have been built that would be about 7 per dealership. I don't see that. I drive about 1800 miles for business a month. About 30 Hyundai dealers on this route. Only 7 have V6 Genesis's. All are asking a premium for them that have them.

I don't know any of the above to be true. I haven't seen the computer screens or have any inside knowledge. This is the best that I can come up with from what I've been told. I don't know if this car will be a V8 or a V6 when it arrives. I hope it is a V8, then maybe more will follow. As you can see from the ad it states a V8.

Patrick Hyundai has been uncanny with it's info they told me. I don't know these people and have only spoke with them on the phone.

So far they are spot on. {insert disclaimer here}

Just giving you the best information I have. Take what you want and forget the rest. Time will tell how accurate it is.

I think you are exactly right. If I can track an iPod as it crosses the country, they know where every car is exactly. Either Hyundai is holding back for PR reasons or is chubbing the waters to create a feeding frenzy.

The V8 rumors are flat getting ugly.

I worked for the parent company of Tupperware and Kitchenaid in the 90s. We knew where every blender, mixer, dishwasher was every step of the way. I mean by serial number and GPS navigation we knew their location on the truck and where the truck was intransit. Their investment was much less than a luxury car. It is not very probable that Hyundai doesn't track every car every step of the way. Let alone their flagship. Hyundai is too well run.

I think the V6 and V8 looks the same. It's the engine and option package difference, isn't it?

It looks almost the same.

From the outside the V8 has the premium chrome style wheels and the chrome below the doors.

Besides the engine the 4.6 model has a 1 gallon larger fuel tank, woodgrain steering wheel, woodgrain shifter knob, upgraded seats with premium leather, both side mirrors auto dim (electrochromatic). It weights 123 pounds more than the V6 and has the ZF transmission.

The only option available is the $4,000 tech package 5, available only on the 4.6 model. I don't know if this is different from the 3.8 tech package 4.

Not to be cute, but I believe all Genesis have the woodgrain shifter. I could be wrong. I don't believe I've seen one without it.

Hyundai, like all auto manufacturers assign a VIN when production is scheduled.

The key to the VIN is digits 4-8 which is the model specific data. I have data on 4 cars, all V6, with Premium pack, Premium Plus (2), and Tech Pack, and all share the SAME code, GC46E. Since your code is GC46F you may indeed be in line for a V8.

GenFan,

You are correct. All Genesis come with a woodgrain shift knob.

RichieRichLancair,

I got my info. from Hyundai's website. It's a bit strange they are listing higher curb weights for both the V6 & V8 in the brochure, but right in keeping with the other discrepencies I've found in the brochure versus the website (e.g. interior color names, etc.). I don't have my brochure handy unfortunately, otherwise I would have likely referenced the numbers in it.

http://www.hyundaiusa.com/vehicle/Genesis/specs/specs.aspx

Not my brochure Hyundai's brochure.

That's what makes this so fun!! You can't get the same answers from sources that should be the same. Ask three Hyundai employees get three different answers.

Is it possible that the woodgrain shift-knob is available in the Premium and Premium Plus packages only? Perhaps the base model Genesis does not have the woodgrain shift knob. We rarely hear anyone talking about the base model. I've seen a few but never really looked at it. I have noticed thee different wheels.

I had to pay extra to get the faux woodgraiin shift knob in my wife's Avalon.
