  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all, I’m in the process of selecting a Genesis Sedan and I keep wondering: should I choose one with the Tech package, which has Carplay, or go with the Ultimate and get the HUD, 17 speakers, power trunk, and adaptive suspension? Any owners of either package wish you could have switched? I’m new to this forum so let me know if I’m posting this in the wrong place. Thanks everyone.

For me, no choice to be made, Ultimate is the way to go. The navigation works well and the next turn is displayed in the HUD.

I had a 2015 and now a 2018. I tried AA twice but never saw any real advantage to it. There are a few here that can't live without it. Good luck with your final choice.

Agreed. HUD is absolutely essential. Plus take a look at all the posts by folks with AA connection issue.

I love my HUD - you can get a box that will give you Wireless Car Play if you're comfortable with taking apart the front of the dash to install it. I'm thinking about it.

See this thread -

My .02...Go for the Ultimate. Have a 16 ultimate myself and absolutely love it. Hud is great...just be aware that using polarized sunglasses while driving makes the display disappear. Some owners say they just look over top of the glasses/while tilting head down a little as a way to see the display and still wear the polarized glasses...the choice is yours

I just use non polarized shades to drive with. Some polarized lenses just dim it a bit though.

I have prescription glasses with Transition lenses.

I personally have the 5.0 Ultimate package with the 17 speaker system and love it. The 2015 info system is dated until you upgrade it to version 13.5 or higher; which cleans it up and add updated features like reading text messages and 3D maps. The adaptive suspension rides perfect and the HUD very useful. Power trunk is fine, but not really a must have to me.

I would not lose those features just for Carplay. However, I do use Android Auto in my older SUV with an aftermarket radio; but it is not that impressive as to not pick a Genesis with an Ultimate package to obtain it.

True, my polarized Raybands sunglasses makes the HUD disappear completely like magic. I keep a different set of non-polarized sunglasses in my Genesis for daily driving to see my HUD.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have a 3.8 tech package and has everything you guys have mentioned except active suspension and a lexicon 9 speaker. I also have carplay and Android auto.
So I think it basically comes down to if you want carplay /android auto or the 5.0 with active suspension and the extra speakers; as well as the price.

Go for the Ultimate. If you really want CarPlay, you get get an add-in module for it. The suspension alone makes the upgrade worth it.

Have a 2015 3.8 AWD Tech package because no Apple Carplay was a dealbreaker for me. Figure it this way...it's the ONE thing you interact with every time you drive the car. Texts and phone calls are so much better, and having full control of Spotify and the Podcasts app is great. And living in the NYC metro area, having Maps with live traffic data is a MUST. The 14 vs 17 speaker Lexicon isn't much difference at all, the real differences are the HUD, 9" screen with the DIS knob (but I'd use touch anyway since it's easier), and power trunk (non-issue for me on a sedan vs. SUV). Adaptive suspension on the 5.0 is nice to have, but all the cars my dad has owned with adapative suspension have broken at high cost of repair out of warranty (Audi & MB).

@snork Are you saying that my 2015 3.8 tech package can actually get Android Auto? I've had it since 2017 and was told that android auto is not available and is only on later models. How do I get android auto on a 2015?

Have a '15 V8 Ultimate. Perfectly fine without Carplay. Heck, I use my phone (Waze) for all my navigating. I did update the nav system, but only to get the system updates. Otherwise, I never use the nav in the car.
