While I agree that a normal shifter is best, and using a touchscreen to select the gear is worst, it turns out in this case that she was very drunk. I'm sorry that she died, but that's better than if she had hit and killed anyone else.

Remember the old Dodge dashboard buttons they had to change the gears back in the 60' or 70'? We called them "Typewriters"

And Edsel had their copy of “push button drive“ in the center of the steering wheel! Very handy while making turns and also made quite an impression on the driver during a sudden stop! . I remember introduction day in the Edsel showroom saying to my friend that I didn’t think that “innovation“ would be around long!
