  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Equus (2011-2016)
My 2013 Equus fron seats seem no longer functioning. I can hear the fans working but dont feel cool or any air coming out of the perforated holes. Although heating works well. Anyone had similiar experience?

The heating is a different system than the cooling. For the cooling, could be air blockage but I don't know much about the system to diagnose.

Following up on this, wondering how much this repair would cost at dealer? I hear fan running but not feeling anything. My warranty has expired.

Why driver is half the price when it's equipped with massage function?

I had similar issue with my 2009 and turned out something under seat was pinched or obstructed in some way. I moved all the way forward and gently felt around under the seat and moved a few things and suddenly it all worked again.

Odd that both seats would go out. Have you checked fuses?

Hyundai does not appear to sell parts for the seat, they will tell you to replace the seat - with a brand new expensive replacement. If you go that option, check salvage yards. This eBay pair is a good deal. The $250 (or best offer) + freight would be hard to beat.

Instead of the dealer, you may search out an automobile electric repair company that will actually troubleshoot and repair the seat.

the fans do work and I hear them but I just can't feel it from the perforated holes.

all ventilated seats work essentially the same way, the fans are installed under the foam between the foam and the springs in the cushions or seat back.

the air has to pass through the heating element and usually a thin layer of foam and of course the seat cover.

while the fans may be running the question is, are they running at full capacity. also have the perforations in the seat become clogged? has the heating element started sagging, or has the foam become mashed or distorted.

the only way to know is to break down the seats.. any upholstery shop with their salt can do this, and replace or correct the foam if needed.

here is a cut away of a generic seat and how the system works, (some seats only have the fans in the back, others have them in the back and bottom)

Filters? Where are these located? How do they check them?

You can not check them. They get crushed over time after sitting on them. The only way I know to fix the situation is to replace the seat cushions. I have the same problem in my 14 Equus. Have not checked into the cost the thinking about it oh, because it's freaking hot here in Arizona.
